Hi Patrick

I'm sure you will be back on the board soon looking forward to getting back into lottery development again :thumb:

I have been working through the lottery history looking for information, patterns, etc and am now trying out BP's latest idea. Going through the lotto history by selecting 100 lines, skip first 1, check columns, selecting 100 lines, skip first 2 lines, etc, etc is an onerous task if you want to check out a few ideas over a 30 or 40 draw period.

I know that BP asked you something similar in post 483 which you replied to, but I was wondering if there could be any way of automating this process of looking for patterns in historical data, saving the results and possibly displaying the results in a column or trend graph.

It seems as if anyone who wants to do this has to rely on their C++, Delphi, VB, GWBASIC programming skills.

On a final note could it be possible to highlight, copy and paste data in cells from the Drawing Analysis screen.

HalfBee,

I chose 5 and 6 based on my manual observations, but for other Lotto's
that could be different. The winning draws tell me which skip patterns
produce the least wins. I use them as filters to eliminate numbers. I started
with skips 1 thur 4 and this produced 5 to 7 numbers to eliminate. Then
I increased the skips to 1 thru 5 and this gave me 10 to 12 numbers to
eliminate. I want to try skips 1 thru 6. I assume it will increase numbers
to eliminate even more, but will it keep winning numbers. If this works
I may increase the skips even more until I have 8 to 9 winning numbers
remaining. Of course, this will not produce 100% every time, but if it
can produce at least 75% that's GREAT!!! :thumb:

No, you got my meaning wrong. It's not the skip values I was asking about, it's the pattern you output.

4700 IF A1<06 THEN N1=6 ELSE N1=5
4702 IF B1<06 THEN N2=6 ELSE N2=5
4704 IF C1<06 THEN N3=6 ELSE N3=5
4708 IF D1<06 THEN N4=6 ELSE N4=5
4710 IF E1<06 THEN N5=6 ELSE N5=5

This assigns a 6 or 5 based on the skip value (A1<06) but it could assign any value here for pattern matching --+-+ or 11818 etc... it's just an indicator of being either above or below our filter value on that skip column. This follows the idea that 2/3 of all winning numbers has had a hit within the last 5 draws (a popular theory from most Gail Howard literature). The next level is a hit within last 10 draws. It's a bit more simple to just filter <06 or whatever than do any specific calculations for each skip column.

To me it looks like you don't have enough history to get 5 skip values for each ball before it checks the winning draw numbers. Try it with 100-200 draws in your history file.
There are also two lines (in each code block BP posted) that displays a smiley instead of what needs to be there (where you see smiley
Code:
:D
replace it with "colon D" if you happened to have just copy/pasted).

Hello HalfBee

Yes, I saw the smileys and fixed that. I will try a file of 100 and see what I get. I also had to adjust my code for 6 numbers. Think that makes a difference??

thanks

HalfBee,
Winning draws form patterns by the way each random number appears. And
a different period in this drawing could result in different patterns. My
approach is to let the winning draws tell me what patterns are hot and
which are cold. I'm not focusing on the last 5 draws. I'm focusing on
the patterns that appeared the least in the last 30 draws and use them
to eliminate numbers. The range '<06' and '>05' has nothing to do with
Gail Howard's theory.

As I couldn't get my GWBASIC to work properly I ran BP's idea through Excel and it is showing promise. It seems to work better for some lotteries than others. For the EuroMillions 5/50 tonight it was a 50/50 split, whilst for the SA 6/49Lottery on Saturday I managed to exclude 74% (36 balls) using the last 100 draws.

The median value of each ball column (B1, B2, ...) was 5 to 6 so I used it just as BP does.

BP what would you suggest as the best base to work off - 100, 50 or 30 recent draws?

I used Saliu's Superformula to determine how much history to use. For 100%
Degree of Certainty for 5/30 was approx. 28, so I used 30 prior draws as a
test. Since the patterns change due to random draws, I wanted to keep
my test history shorter to catch more recient changes. It seems to work
ok. This method finds patterns as a whole for all numbers to eliminate, but
now I'm trying to determine patterns for each individual number instead.
This means each number forms it's own unique patterns and if I can get
patterns least used for each number, I can eliminate even more numbers
based on their own unique patterns. This seems to be more difficult to
program, but I want to find if it works. :)

Could you have a look at 100% Degree of Certainty for 6/49 to check that I'm on the right path with how much history to use.

turtle0747,

That's more like it :thumb: Open this file ,'RESULT.TXT' with Excel and
save it as SKIPS.CSV. Use this file as input for my second program.
Let's see what your output looks like. ;)

Chose patterns groups that have 1 to 4 counts. Use winnalotto
and load your lottery. Go to 'Draws Analysis' tab and click on Balls.
The pattern above says Skip1 > 5, Skip2 > 5, Skip3 > 5, Skip4 > 5
and Skip5 > 5. Check the numbers that have this pattern and
eliminate them. If 6 is part of a pattern look for Skips <6. I would
recommend backtesting this to get a better feel of how to check it.
Maybe Patrick will add this to winnalotto and make me and maybe
others happy :)
