Spreadsheet

bloubul, veronica21 and PAB

I will send my spreadsheet to LT and he should be able to send it to you.

I will change any text explaining how it works from French to English, so it will be easier to understand for you.

The spreadsheet is set up for a 6/49 lottery and could most likely be used for anything less with only minor adjustments, if any. In order to reduce file size, I will delete the current database (Lotto 6/49) but you should be able to add data from many databases.

Veronica21,

You need access to Microsoft Excel to use the spredsheet.

GillesD,

How about putting the spreadsheet on the free lottostuff link.

No doubt there will be other requests....Yes please :D

Thanks

GillesD,

I Look Forward to Receiving it :agree2: .

Irvin,

I think you are Right, there will Probably More Requests for the Spreadsheet, and Putting on the FREE Lottostuff Link, if GillesD is Happy with that, is Probably the Best Way to Go :agree: .

All the Best

Nick, would you consider playing an optimum UK set each week of the challenge to see how you'd fare? It certainly would be interesting....have you backchecked this method against the last challenge to see how you would have fared?

I'll do an alnalysis of that idea and I'll post the results

Some good but not optimum sets

Karnac

You may want to consider the following 15-number sets (always based on 2186 drawings):

1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-10-11-14-18-27-30-35 which gives 42x5-winning numbers, 19x6-winning numbers and 0x7-winning numbers
or
1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-18-22-27-40-43-47 which gives 80x5-winning numbers but only 3x6-winning numbers and 0x7-winning numbers.

I also remember seeing one set that gave 6x7-winning numbers but I have lost that information.

These compare favorably with Nick's set (1-7-13-15-19-27-29-30-31-34-40-43-45-46-49) resulting in 40x5-winning numbers, 19x6-winning numbers and 0x7-winning numbers. But Nick has a definite advatage in the time required to obtain a good set.

I do not think all combinations can be verified unless you own a super computer. The possibilities are so huge, COMBIN(49,15), that it is nearly impossible to go through all combinations but Nick's approach is certainly a step in the right direction. Most likely the optimum set (however it is defined) may never be determined with 100% certitude but some excelent sets could be identified.

Thanks very much GillesD....seems this gets more interesting as we go along. I especially like this one:1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-18-22-27-40-43-47
It gives 80 x 5 numbers , but with only 3 x 6 numbers in the history it has room to improve on the 6 number hits. 80 x 5 numbers astounds me...looks good to play on Wednesday too.:agree2:

Optimum set no but another good one

My rather unproductive method for searching the optimum 15-number set has produced another good one for 2186 draws:

1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-11-14-27-30-31-35-47 which gives 45x5-winning numbers, 20x6-winning numbers and 0x7-winning numbers.

But I am sure it can be improved.

To all of you that asked for my spreadsheet, it should be ready soon.

Thanks again GillesD, this has the makings of a good competition, ... I look forward to your spreadsheet as well and commend your generosity in making it available to the board.:agree2:

Optimum Play Set

When you come up with your optimised play set with your permision I'll do some test runs on it against a random set of 6 6/49 Lotto Games from around the world with or without bonus numbers.

A set of numbers optimised against a particular Lotto History does not fare well against another History; understandable as you probably don't have any coincidence of fives or sixes between the two.

If you play the same set of good structured numbers each draw you should get about what probability predicts; the same set of unstructured random numbers played every draw can and generally does give poor results.

A different set of random numbers from a good RNG generally gives what Probability predicts.

The big problem with working with numbers is what do you meaningfully measure or rank?

Now where was I - ah that's right, gonna make a cup of coffee.

Thanks Mate.

What Optimum set are you using, surely you don't play "All" the numbers every time?
