I think that I know why it doesn't click Gilles...Your first chart is all O:K: and so is your second chart...but when we compiled the datas lets say for the 04 coming up with 24-25 ....We might have a draw having 04-09-24-25-29-31 bonus 7...Then we compiled the consecutives coming up for the 09...And this is where you compile them twice I'm talking about the 24-25 here but it is still only one draw so the discrepancy versus the expected value is right here and so is the compiling for each number....This scenario is repeating itself with the other numbers forming the set...
So the 49.5 expected value is quite O:K: here...because this represents how many draws we can expect a consecutive...
So I can't compare the % of your first chart with the 49.5% expected value because it is like compairing apples with oranges...The very same thing is happening with checking the 04 and after that checking the 05 as 04-05 is going to be counted in double....
This is one of the times when the numbers may looks and acts funny...But it is all on how the problem is raised...
So the 04 is not the leader in that department even if it is not a bad performer also...The 29 is the one to watch ...As for the adjacent number being more incline to come up...It is also only an illusion as 04-05 are only two numbers but 04-24-25 are 3 numbers ...Now if I look at only 04-25 though I have not checked I'm sure its value is going to come right up...and so for all the other numbers....
We always have to be very carefull when playing around with numbers ....At times it could be very much misleading..

Now I'm going to raised another question here....Do you know what number comes up the most with a perticuliar set of consecutive...We all know that the 46-47 is the best consecutive duo....But what happens if I throw a third number in there....
Is 46-47 + another would be the leader???
Are there better trios involving one pair of consecutive + another number...???

3-number combinations

Dennis, if I understand you well, what you want is the 3-number combinations that happened most often while, at the time, including at least 2 consecutive numbers in those 3 numbers.

This is what I found:

Not considering the bonus number:
Combinations (05-06-33), (05-37-38), (09-27-28) and (38-39-44) happened 8 times each while 7 other combinations happened 7 times. Overall there were 1946 3-number combinations including at least 2 consecutive numbers.

Considering the bonus number:
Combinations (38-39-44) happened 12 times and combinations (16-17-19), (17-18-39), (20-42-43) and (23-24-34) each happened 11 times. There were 15 other combinations that happened 10 times. Overall there were 2168 3-number combinations including at least 2 consecutive numbers.

also 35-36-37 is the same set as 36-37-35...
