Hey Rob,
I am not necessarily saying you're wrong but rather that you are at the wrong place to try and prove your case, so hence my question along the lines of 'why bother?' I'm sure you're well qualified but the point of doing that here is what I don't understand ...
There have been others before you that tried the same, even as far as going into similar examples with dice as you just did. Just search the posts and you'll find the ensuing discussions. I don't really want to get into that.
Maybe I am nearing the end of my search for an advantage and realizing that it's not there, or maybe I'm just running out of fresh ideas of what to try next ... but that's not going to stop me from reading what others think. So call me a lotto-optimist, interested in the approaches others take.
Having said all that, reading that lotto draws are totally random is no fun, hehe. But, you haven't disturbed me enough to reach for a hit of BC's best to calm my nerves nor to enhance my delusions about four corners of Mother Earth, LOL.
And yes, I was referring to non-perfect apparatus used for draws, as you put it, possibly resulting in a bias. I don't think that lotto corps are intentionally manipulating the draw results, but even they must be aware that biases can exist or why else would they periodically change ball-sets? Could it be to try and negate any possible chance that they may be spotted and exploited by observant lotto-players, how ever infinitesimal they may be?
