This is for Veronica21 - i said i'd briefly respond to her question in this thread. From Post yer Piks thread:

Mirage,
Of the list of numbers you posted from the DNs, which 6 numbers would be good to choose ? I don't know how to wheel numbers, plus I can't afford to play too many.
Any help please?
-You sound sincere so here goes.
-If 6/49 too expensive (and it is- for example if play 15 lines at $2.00 a line each game, then that's $60.00 a week X 52 weeks.... why that's an embarrassing amount of money to be ... gambling!....

unless you already have a really good salary or good investment portfolios ... and I guess most of the persons who are regulars on this board do, hmmmm...? Or they are making some back occasionally, in games like Keno- (for Keno tips see Keno section...

) A practical person without a professional's salary would be better off putting that kind of money into an RRSP or something.
-So anyways, maybe you would be better off playing Atlantic 6/49 as more affordable? The rules for a 6/49 game the same. You have to do the prep work though.
Back to tips as to how to choose numbers.
Personally i don't wheel I pick and choose.
First of all my stock in trade has been the good old reliable graph paper, in 8 1/2 by 14 legal size or something similar. There's also quad graph paper available which is smaller and more convenient. Write the numbers from 1 to 49 down long side if legal size so they all fit in a column. Then for each draw, in each subsequent column, mark a hit corresponding to number drawn. Each column represents a draw date. This is how I keep track of draws. (Stone-aged, but it works for my visual mind.) I also have software and keep track on computer. The "Hot" numbers you get to know just by experience of looking at - did a number hit 3 times in quick succession recently?, for example. This is one easy example of hot number, but read Gail Howard's book(s) to find out more about "hot" numbers. GH good for beginners as well as well regarded by "seasoned persons" players. (Am I going on too much already?) I am also now into couples - numbers that like to hit with each other.
As for myself, in a 6/49 draw, I've found that usually no more than 1 or 2 hot numbers hit, but 1 or 2 most often DO hit, so put the "Hot Numbers" into a "box". (I'm not kidding). Draw randomly from "hot" box any 2 numbers, including a Repeat "hot" number. More than 50% of time, at least one number from previous draw repeats. (How can you not know this if you've been reading this forum at all?)
Note: *
For Jan. 26 draw tonight, i am doing the following*: Mix together with these 2 random hot numbers 1 (or 2) from first decade; or 1 from the teens decade, & 1 or 2 from 30's decade,
but not from all 3 decades... ; plus 1 or 2 from 40's decade. Personally i believe 20's are due to hit now(others might have different opinion), i suggest at least 1 or more from 20's decade for sure this draw. Make sure your six has 1 or 2 decades
eliminated as this is what is most frequently seen in all 6 winning numbers. In addition or including the "hot" 2 numbers, there is
usually no more than 1 or 2 at the most additonal, other numbers that hit Previously, i.e., in the last 5 draws. So make sure each line has about 3 or so numbers that hit in last 5 draws total, and the other 3 are luke warm or cold.
Sum of line is usually about 120 to 180 with 150 being about the middle. I think it might be anywhere in that range tonite's draw. Go through this process until you are close to your affordability range. Then there's more filtering's you can do as well....

Other things to filter are, make sure your numbers are either 2/4, 3/3, or 4/2 odd even. Winning numbers most frequently fall into this pattern. Low/highs that is 1-24 low, 25-49 high - should be the same, but less certain. Still the 2/4, 3/3, 4/2 rule should still apply. These tips and filters just for starters.
This bulletin board is full of other things to consider.
See Karnac's discussion on Gail Howard previous discussion thread. (Karnac? anything to add?- sorry for bringing your name into this).
Well Veronica21, don't know if you've read this but if you have, hoped it's helped. Your chances of winning will still be pretty low, but at least they will be better than quik piks.
Take care!
