Why do we lose posts..?

Just wondering why we lose posts sometimes.....

We lose at the Lottey all the time, but losing post is a rare thing....Something Like winning the Lottery is rare...

The other day there was a process of a server upgrade which may have made some posts dissapear or there might have been some glitch putting some posts into the twilight zone?

LT, this occurred Thursday.

A few of us were posting earlier on July 1st. Then in the PM, all those previous July 1st posts were gone - we only had June 30th - Brad mentions this.

I guess the server upgrade was the cause

I think we were deducted for our post counts as well, that will set some of us back, which we will have to make up.

On Thursday, I couldn't connect via FTP for a while. It sounds like the site was moved to a new server. This BB runs on an SQL database which is backed up, moved and re installed. I think that the web site must have been re put up with the most recent database download but which unfortunately would not have contained all of the posts. The nature of a forums is live 24/7 every second but a moved database is only as recent the most recent backup. Hopefully that will not happen again for some time.

Moving to another server may also explain the diff in time display, I had to move my setting to GMT (was GMT-3 bfr) to display Pacific time properly

Yes, along with the server upgrade, they forgot to set the time properly.

3 hour difference in time from the previous setting.

I also had my time on GMT (you had GMT-3 which makes sense) and I am out 3 hours.

same time problem here, i kust posted in the keno thread right now at 1:03 PM EST and it shows as 10:03 am

ps. the people post counter is also dead, ie stuck and not increasing post numbers

Post count seems to be working OK and if the real time for EST has to be Bagdad then Bagdad it is

I noticed a few days ago the thread counter on Lotto 649 was stuck at 777 ... it has 're-started' it seems since the server change over.

The count is a bit off: at this writing there are 787 threads since the beginning when counted but only 782 shows in 'Threads'.

I haven't looked at the other sections.

see how this one says i have 1579 post same as the one i posted 20 minutes ago, now how can i catch Dennis if it doesn't count, in fact i think my count went down Dennis is behind this

It could be, although I didn't pay attention to that ... until just now ... and I see it did move up ... so it must be working now

I changed my above post to read 'threads' where I said 'posts' originally

No I'm not behind this Charles...I swear....
I'm ahead of this when I looked at the time.... Sheba is giving everything she got to catch me....Well another case of ''catch me if you can......''
Who knows how many posts I'll have when fall starts???
