Problem is that even though less tickets are sold per draw now (a bit more than half of what it used to be before the increase), the Lotto corp still rakes in more $$ than it used to. It's about 3-4 M more on average per draw. One thing they figured right is less tickets sold=less of a chance of the JP being won.
Even if only 1/2 the tickets are sold the corp comes out ahead since they altered (lowered) the secondary prizes too.
It goes something like this: less tickets sold means less of a chance of the JP being won which makes it easier (more likely) for the JP to roll over ... then when the unwashed masses see the bigger pot they'll run to spend more ... and the corp is rubbing their grubby little hands.
Many more ppl are needed to go cold turkey on this lotto if they want to force a re-think, as it stands now the corp's plan works.
