What are your LOTTERY RITUALS?

Hi all,

I'm curious if there is a ritual (or rituals) that any of you follow when playing Lotto 649, Lotto Max, Keno, or any of the other Daily Lotteries?

-Do you only use loose change to buy your tickets?
-Do you buy them on certain days? (for daily lottos, do you play at certain times of certain days?)
-Do you use the same slip you've used for years to buy your lucky set?
-Do you buy multiple quick picks as singles, or all on the same ticket?

I know someone who never won anything major until he broke his right arm. He had it set in a cast and thus was unable to mark his numbers on a play slip using his right hand (he is right handed). He was forced to use his left hand, and then proceeded to win 5/6 on the 649 that night. To this day, he uses his left hand for any kind of lotto or draw.

I'm looking forward to your answers.

Man, I wish I could report something exotic or quirky, but I'm really boring. :agree: My ritual consists of firing up Excel, staring at screens for an inordinate amount of time and then selecting some (mostly incorrect) numbers.

I though the story about the cast was interesting. Maybe, by being forced to use his left hand, he was forced to rely on his right hemisphere, the creative side of the brain. Have to think of some ways to incorporate more right-brain thinking into my lotto picks, 'cause the analytic left brain has sure been lettin' me down
recently. :idea2:

Icewynd,

You may be on to something as it only worked the first time for him.

Maybe having been forced to use it at the spur of the moment caused the realigned thinking pattern to kick in. After that, knowing he would have to use his left hand for a few months, his old predicable (left-brained) patterns took over.

hiya gmac78,

:idee: lucky pen

:idee: sometimes play only when I have a gut-feeling

:idee: go out of my way to play during unusual weather, like if there is a downpour, screw it walk in the rain to the minimart.

:idee: ifya have itchy palms...I think it is a Chinese belief that you are lucky...heard you are supposed to immediately place your hands in your pockets for a while, to keep as much of the luck withya as possible...then break out your lotto playslips!

-Do you only use loose change to buy your tickets?
no, but when I pay cash at grocery, I sometimes burn oddball $1's or a $5 on scratcher machine on the way out the door sometimes.

-Do you buy them on certain days? (for daily lottos, do you play at certain times of certain days?)
usually most convenient to play on weekends...but go through phases where I enjoy the midday pick3 chase prior to work, then I have the draw to look forward to checking at breaktime :)

-Do you use the same slip you've used for years to buy your lucky set?
nope, toss 'em when I'm done.

-Do you buy multiple quick picks as singles, or all on the same ticket?
never quick-picks...full playslips

Hey Blitzed,

Ive heard of the itchy hand deal. In Greek culture, a similar belief is propagated in that if your left hand is itchy, you will be face an unexpected expense while if its the right, you will be receiving an unexpected winfall. (keeping hands in pockets is something I should try to remember next time, but only the right hand..lol).

As for the lucky pen deal, come to think about it, I have a 'lucky pen' of sorts that I use to sign important documents like deeds, wills, investment deals with. I think I should break out the 20 year old gold Cross pen and take it for a trip to the corner store....LOL.

Thanks for the tips and entertainment ;)

Hey Blitzed,
I used my 'special pen' tonight. Lets see what the ritual provides :)

IF I post a $250,000 win tomorrow, drinks are on me in Vegas next year!

Maybe I should have used my left hand to pick them...lol. Oh well.
