From 7th June there will be 2 draws per night instead of one. The format is exactly the same, 659 but each ticket you buy will be valid for both lottos on the same evening. So there’s 2 chances of winning the lotto with each line. There is still just the one jackpot shared equally between winners of the 2 draws.
So whilst the chances of winning any prize are doubled, the value of prizes at each consolation level are less than halved. So for example the current match 3 prize of £30 becomes £10. Currently matching 2 numbers wins a lucky dip worth £2. The new prize for matching 2 numbers will be £1.
I expect there to be less roll over jackpots than currently and lots of grumbling from players regarding the poor consolation prizes available, given the still enormous odds against winning them.
