RE: Dernamen
Hi Maggie, I can see that you have put together a questionaire about names or handles and how they came about....sooooo here's my debute. In the old country of my family some things kind of stick, even across the water that separates Europe from America. My family roots go as far back as the Icini of Germany during the Roman preoccupation. Well, Queen Bodacus always "dubbed" every new born male child, a son of Satan until his fourteenth birthday when he became officially a man and had the right to bear arms, take a wife and etc. The name and word Teufel, has been handed to each successive male born of that tribal blood. Bastard was the word used by Queenie B. which was true but it wasn't. After the Romans conquered Germany they had a problem with calling some of their senior statesmen from the Oder and Styx river regions bastards because in the Roman hierarchy, bastards were slaves and to not be called that word any person of foreign extract other than true born Romans, had to be legitimitized. In order to get around this problem they cleaned the verbage a bit to mollify the German statesmen hence the whole nation for citizenship. The word bastard actually boils down to a wild or evil thing; unruly; orinary; epitomy of the nether regions; ad nasium. All of the male descendants from that time to this one have inscribed on our birth certificates or church bibles and even a sacred tree or two the name...Teufel.
