Suggestion for LT

Hi LT

I just went over the rules of the forum in the N & A section and I think we can eliminate some of the bad feelings which develop with new members posting to the wrong areas. A simple addition to the rules requesting posts be made to the proper areas will go a long way to eliminate the problems. Picks to Picks, best bet to Best Bet, and discussion in Discussion gives the new member good direction and encourages them to post and repost. Certainly some new members have never posted to a forum before, some are excited , and some invariably make an error. We as a collective must understand this and take this into consideration. The venom and criticism should be directed at the spammers, the affiliates, and the scammers who drop by here on a regular basis, not the newbie who posts in the wrong place.

Now that is an excellent idea !

Karnac you're a gentleman and a scholar! You're a good man.

Now if only Peter would follow your example and have your humility and wisdom.

ChrisJ,

Thank you for the kind words.....however I must direct you to this post by Peter http://www.lotto649.ws/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5184
where he requests a degree of etiquette be pursued in the forum. This is where my idea originated. Unfortunately this post was lost in the shuffle. After the recent problems, which I may add, are ongoing, (at least a couple of times a week) I considered contacting LT with my suggestion of putting this information in the N & A section where it can be seen by all new members when they register. As you have experienced first hand, the long time members of this forum are extremely protective of this forum. This is why you see no advertising in the posts, no email addresses, no affiliate ads ,etc. You can search the archived posts and never find an ad....just good lottery information. This is a forum with Neighbourhood Watch, and sometimes during the policing of it things are said that are later regretted. Such is life. Everyone reacts to the new kid in school or on the block differently. The best way to participate is to contribute....discussion, picks, best bets and acceptance is assured....maybe not by all, but such is life. I look forward to your contributions.:)

That is a good suggestion Karnac - thanks :agree2:

If you or others could craft a small paragraph of how this should read then I can add it to the sign up rules and/or post it somewhere for the protocal to be read by new members.

Something simple ...

All new members are welcome to contribute.
Please follow forum protocol and post to the respective threads for each lottery...
Picks , Best Bets, and Discussion.

You are truly an asset to this forum and I agree with you wholeheartedly that is why you and only a few reputable others like Brad do I respect.

I'm sure ChrisJ and the countless newbies see it the same way as you but unfortunately was put off by the trolls of this forum in the beginning.

I don't think it needs to be in the 'Forum Rules' thread. - the first two lines maybe but the third is
more appropriate as a Sticky in the 'Canadian 649/super7 Discussion Thread' :agree:

Let me remind the 'newbies' the motivation for those threads. We have over 5000 members on these boards - maybe 20 post on a consistent basis. If all of us start a new thread for our picks, discussions and musings we will create a complete mess and will spend much wasted time trying to find out what people think. Just look at the pik3 thread for an example of what happens when we post every day in different threads - mess :dang:

Let's try to follow that one simple convention in that forum - not much to ask for the privilege of posting here for free.

The one thing I would put in the forum rules is a line about when you join read some of the threads and get to know the conventions before you post - more lurking required and remember there is a 'search' function at this site - use it - your questions may have been answered many times before . In fact, that could be another Sticky - lotto history from bclc and maybe the time has come for a FAQ thread.

People come in here and post their droppings any place they want :dang:

karnac, this is a good suggestion and kudos to you for bringing it up. :agree2:

Now, if we can just get the 'Newbies' to read.

Good luck

Seems to me basic stuff but relevant here: #1-#3 and #8 especially

from http://www.internetiquette.org/discussions.php

Discussion Groups

1. When you join a list, monitor the messages for a few days to get a feel for what common questions are asked, and what topics are deemed off-limits. This is commonly referred to as lurking. When you feel comfortable with the group, then start posting.

2. See if there is a FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) for a group that you are interested in joining. Veteran members get annoyed when they see the same questions every few weeks, or at the start of each semester.

3. Follow any and all guidelines that the listowner has posted; the listowner establishes the local "netiquette" standards for her/his list.

4. Keep in mind that some discussion lists or Usenet groups have members from many countries.
* Don't assume that they will understand a reference to TV, movies, pop culture, or current events in your country. If you must use the reference, please explain it.
* Don't assume that they understand geographical references that are local or national.

5. Don't join a list just to post inflammatory messages - this upsets most system administrators and you could lose access to the net ("mail bombing").

6. Keep your questions and comments relevant to the focus of the discussion group.

7. If another person posts a comment or question that is off the subject, do NOT reply to the list and keep the off- subject conversation going publicly.

8. When someone posts an off-subject note, and someone else criticizes that posting, you should NOT submit a gratuitous note saying "well, I liked it and lots of people probably did as well and you guys ought to lighten up and not tell us to stick to the subject".

9. When going away for more than a week, unsubscribe or suspend mail from any mailing lists or LISTSERV services.

10. If you can respond to someone else's question, do so through email. Twenty people answering the same question on a large list can fill your mailbox (and those of everyone else on the list) quickly.

11. When quoting another person, edit out whatever isn't directly applicable to your reply. Don't let your mailing or Usenet software automatically quote the entire body of messages you are replying to when it's not necessary. Take the time to edit any quotations down to the minimum necessary to provide context for your reply. Nobody likes reading a long message in quotes for the third or fourth time, only to be followed by a one line response: "Yeah, me too."

12. Use discretion when forwarding a long mail message to group addresses or distribution lists. It's preferable to reference the source of a document and provide instructions on how to obtain a copy. If you must post a long message, warn the readers with a statement at the top of the mail message. Example: WARNING: LONG MESSAGE

13. If you crosspost messages to multiple groups, include the name of the groups at the top of the mail message with an apology for any duplication.

14. Resist the temptation to "flame" others on the list. Remember that these discussions are "public" and meant for constructive exchanges. Treat the others on the list as you would want them to treat you.

15. When posting a question to the discussion group, request that responses be directed to you personally. Post a summary or answer to your question to the group.

16. When replying to a message posted to a discussion group, check the address to be certain it's going to the intended location (person or group). It can be very embarrassing if they reply incorrectly and post a personal message to the entire discussion group that was intended for an individual.

17. When signing up for a group it is important to save your subscription confirmation letter for reference. That way if you go on vacation you will have the subscription address for suspending mail.

18. Use your own personal Email account, don't subscribe using a shared office account.

19. Occasionally subscribers to the list who are not familiar with proper netiquette will submit requests to SUBSCRIBE or UNSUBSCRIBE directly to the list itself. Be tolerant of this activity, and possibly provide some useful advice as opposed to being critical.

20. Other people on the list are not interested in your desire to be added or deleted. Any requests regarding administrative tasks such as being added or removed from a list should be made to the appropriate area, not the list itself. Mail for these types of requests should be sent to the following respectively:

If a newbie comes in and cross the line...It is our responsability to inform him or her of the tresspassing...Sometimes they don't do it on purposes..but unfortunatly sometimes some trolls will infiltrate the board to do just that..
Crying like babies :bawl: :baby: after..with accusations and harrasments towards the people that just inform them...I don't think that they always do it because they do not read....Many of them did it more than one time...
We should welcome and respect everybody here..newbies and oldies as well..If you don't respect someone just leave him alone...It is called tolerance..
doesn't mean that you can't express your opinion here...
I for myself have been bashed because I say loudly what many will never say...
I am not a backstabber..
Bad words and slurrs or abusive language which we saw here at times will scare many newbies much more quickly than an advice on where to post his or her picks..

We should also have another thread...for winners of predictions  after the draw....
Any millionnaire winners or big winners that do not really participate either by discussing or posting their picks before the draw might post a scan of their tickets there...So we players here could continue to post our numbers and predictions
BEFORE the draw
not after the fact...Too easy to make it look like a winner when it was a looser all the way...

I am not a backstabber

I am one of the few that has kept quiet for the longest time through all these mudslinging however it is futile and utterly disrespectful not to reply to this obviously and incredibly worst of your lies so far. I am not surprise why these people hate your s and your cronies guts real bad.

I cannot help but make a comment on the above response. It is undeniably the biggest lie of all. You who likes to brag about being the biggest winner on this board not once but repeatedly over and over again so people would know. What is the purpose of that, if I might asked? What is your real intention?

Another thing is you are definitely one of the biggest backstabber among your group which numbers a few (they know who they are). They who repeatedly provoked people about things so minute and laughable that it is so ridiculous that I think it is being done on purpose for rating and traffic. You might not be so vulgar in your wordings however your subtle ways of intimidation is stunningly cruel. It can drive anyone up the wall.

And with this claim, who the hell are you to tell anyone to do as you bid and to prove to you that they won what they won? Are you really that narrow minded and insecure that you need someone to provide you proof before you can declare them a true player? Are you really that credible a person and so pure in heart that you must be the judge of that?

I don't know what you fed the owners of these board and your cronies that they have allowed your kind to stay in this and continually do as you please?

Like someone said, this board is going downhill fast and you're one of the people to thank for that.

Good luck to all dealing with his kind.

I'll respond,
I don't recall Dennis, that you attacked this Kim person anywhere, just like I never attacked this Chris J person, yet these individuals can take pot shots at us, and think it is there right to do so... I think not.

They are the attackers here Peter don't fall into it...They speak the language of the Trolls ...They are just setting up a trap for us..They feed on war and they expect us to fall for it ....I will erase them in my own way...We are players here and we don't need that crap and fighting and accusations...
Lets put our mind into Lotto Peter and let them find what they are looking for that still eludes me as I write....
So Peter let them missed the boat like all the others before them..All of them...

As an objective observer, I have to agree to KIM's post. This forum needs a more active moderator(s) who will welcome new posters instead of getting scared away permanently by Beaker, DB et al. I have read a lot of threads with newbies being insulted, and nobody stands up for them or reminds the cruel oldies to keep their testosterone in check.

YOU should be thanking us for pointing out the numerous errors in your website.

You STILL can't keep those stats up to date :dang: . Rather than be an 'objective observer' why don't you spend the 30 seconds it would take to get your website in the game

No wonder you hate the lottery - YOUR STATS ARE OLD

Good luck

Beaker I agree with you entirely here..But does these attacking characters worth our attention?
Each time one of them is going to post something bad or an attack..I'm going to count the missing boats...He already got one here....And that is all they'll going to get from me...
missing boats...
It's their trademarks...So not only is he missing numbers on his site..but here he is missing the boat...
He is currently at one missing boat...
 Lets see which acting troll is going to miss the most...Next time I won't post any comments other than
# of missing boats...
