Still looking to put together macro for sum of skips!

Well, for that amount of effort, nothing more than Quick Picks will be the end result. To get somewhere, much more is required.

Well, I was actually thinking about a very short and very simple one - that will make the skips, take a look at them, and do some sums...

Snides,

(Oops! The phone rang, I walked away from my computer and forgot I had left it on this site). I wondered about the firewall because other programs are unable to download properly sometimes if one has one installed. So I've heard. There must be something in the download process itself, do you think? As for VB, yeah, I guess I knew that already.

If you'd like an update on my health, I've been to the second specialist, he said my sinuses are swelled up and prescribed 2 months worth of nasonex spray to try to clear 'em out. I'm on day six now and I think the spray is just waking up and pissing off all the bacteria crammed in there, and I've had 3 or 4 times where it felt like my ears were pressurizing my brain Still have the CT scan booked for the 23rd of this month, maybe that will show what's wrong with my head..

Sounds just awful! So sorry to hear you're still having all these health problems. Hope your sinuses finally start to clear up. And you get better soon! Be interested in results of CT. Take care of yourself! :fairy: :agree2:

(Snides' Bacteria! Time to move on out and find another home!)

wow, lots of activity since my last post.. don't think i'll get the update up tonight... I worked a late shift tonight and my dog missed me, he's been trying to play with me for the last few hours..

I'll definately try to have it up tomorrow night though.. and I'll try to remember to download the old version at work tomorrow to give it a run on my computer there..

TT; you want 15 lines for the skip sums? it actually can be done in one line, with a few colons... the entire program is only 656 lines.. and some of those are blank lines

...adding in code to prevent it from failing when invalid data is found in the required places will make it grow larger real quick:D... ...its the 'ol 80/20 rule... ...get better soon, being sick sucks!...

So, is there any reason why you would like to stay away from posting that one line, which, how I understand, will look at the history file (excel or access), get the number’s skips and do the all combinations for the targeted Sum?

It seems it’s a pretty powerful line of code….:look:

Haven't tried, but it seems quite unworkable...

Ok, i lied, i have the update up now.. (my dog went to sleep)

Download and install the update package here

Once that is installed use these settings

it should finish running really quick, the update of the program runs much quicker when eliminating this many numbers..

One word of warning! I changed something about the way the "Go to Draw #" Box works, do not change this number by highlighting the whole thing and entering a new number, instead put your cursor at the end of the number and hit backspace if you wish to change it... I know, this is a fairly big bug, and I will fix it as soon as I can.. It automatically goes to the last draw, which is probably where you want to be anyway.. :D

If this doesn't produce any tickets for you, then I havn't got a clue what's wrong

TT: yer adding more functions to your original 15 line program.. at first you just said that it would do the sum of skips, not the entire wheeling of all ticket combinations... :rolleyes: The one line i was referring to would be this;

For a = 1 To 6 : sumskip(t) = sumskip(t) + last(draw(t, a)) : Next a
:D

Heh :santa:...what this line has with taking skips from the history file, and dealing with targeting Sum?

Hello Snides,

How are you tonight? Hope you are feeling better.
Downloaded and ran program with updates as per your settings screen shot. Unfortunately bad news for me - no list of lines for sum skips. Also noticed, however, your screen shot has a setting for (... hard to read here...)"allow a maximum of [2]certicel (?spelling?) skips" near the upper top right of screen, which the downloaded version does not have.
As Gsobier said (I think), it must be a glitch in microsoft. I wonder if I should phone microsoft tech support?
Thanks!
:)

Just in case Snides is not around for a while, I'd say calling Microsoft and getting this fixed is a longshot at best. If it was IBM, they would be more helpful... ...no matter who you report this to, you will have to provide enough detail so the vendor is able to recreate. Rule of thumb is, can't fix what I can't see.

The bottom line, this is mostly a programmer issue, Snides will need to help... ...I'm confident Snides will be able to resolve this... ...direct help from Microsoft will cost you $$$.

Regards,
George:)

...)"allow a maximum of [2]certicel (?spelling?) skips"

that would be "allow a maximum of [2] identical skips" you should turn off that stupid automatic image re-sizing in internet explorer, man I hate that thing..

This is just a filter that used to be hard-coded into the program, but now it isn't.. If that isn't appearing on your program, then you have not updated it properly yet..

If your original installation package was installed un-altered (you didn't change anything, and just clicked continue and ok) and then you ran this update package un-altered, then the programs should have been copied over the old versions.

Try installing the package you downloaded and run the program again, remember not to have the program running when you run the update or it won't be able to change the files..

...its not easy:no: to get something like this working for another... ...Microsoft is to blame for most of the problems... ...installed is one thing, running properly is another:D...

I haven't had any problems regarding runing any MS based application so far...:agree:

Geez, one day somebody will admit he/she is actually logged here using Comodore64...:cold:

...I'm on Windows XP Professional (Service Pack 1)... ...you have to be very careful... ...if you abuse it or neglect routine maintenance, you will eventually have problems... ...if you installed Windows XP again in another partition using the same hardware, it will run better in the new one... ...there is not:no: much you can do to escape from this unless you spend more to compensate... ...it's Microsoft's fault for providing second rate software:rolleyes:...

Commodore (Bill Gates) once said all you would ever need was 64 rams of memory.
BS, that is what it takes today to store all of Dennis's posts.

Well, sorry to say, but here is not a problem MS. Here is a thing regarding willingness about sharing a simple macro...That's the reason I extremely respect Nick and GillesD.

it has nothing to do with a macro, since it isn't a macro it's an executeable program. It's either MS glitches or wetware.. Program works fine for me on 2 different machines. Mirage says she has two files that were different.. no idea what those two were, i havn't encountered that problem in my testing..

I've distributed similar programs before, one that beaker, dennis, peter(?) and some others used with no problems, the program i posted on here for group wheeling, and a program I made for a dude in south africa. All of those ran flawlessly. I cannot see any reason why Mirage's copy will not wheel any tickets if she is using the settings i posted in the screen shot, or any settings she has come up with on her own (other than the odd/even thing..)

...well, I guess I'll have to get a copy and see what the heck is going on:dizzy:... ...I installed your program ages ago before Mirage got interested... ...I've got a partition I don't care too much about where I'll do this so my good partition keeps running well as could be...
