Still looking to put together macro for sum of skips!

The user has to enter the draw numbers by hand, the auto-date thing is just for when you click the date box it changes to the next draw date that should be entered.. if you have code that grabs the draw info, I could throw that in and it could plop in the numbers as well, then the user could just verify before clicking the update button..

One word of warning. Since there is no edit feature, make sure you enter the correct numbers before clicking update :D

Its only for 6/49... ...its simply a monkey see, monkey do for the other games... ...I'll send it over... ...I hope you can figure out REXX code:D.

Having no edit is brutle... ...a backup before update is one way to get around a terrible mess by providing a way to go back until edit is supported.

REXX? whassat? :) I'll give it a shot, can't be too hard... :dizzy:

and ya.. i know the no edit thing kinda sucks, but I was trying to whip in the update feature to get this thing going.. If everyone is as carefull as me when updating draw info I don't think it will be a big problem, but I could be wrong.. In the future I'll add a flexgrid or something similar that will allow editing any draw.. hmm, I have another idea that might work too.. hafta see which will work better..

Program is Ready for download!

While you are downloading I'll explain two known 'bugs'...

1. The automatic date for updating 6/49 is messed up, I will fix that for future version.

2. There is some massive optimization possible which will be changed for the next release. If you choose to eliminate numbers for wheeling, currently the program doesn't care, it still goes through all 13.9 million combinations. When this is fixed it will only use the numbers that you choose to wheel, therefore with each number eliminated the program will run much faster. Ideally if you only wheel 20 numbers it should finish in less than a minute, but as it stands right now it could take 10 minutes or so (depending on your computer's speed)

One other thing I should mention... The database that comes with this is not up to date. I did this intentionally, not only so that I could test the updating myself, but also so that you would have to try it on your machine to make sure that you know how to do it, and to see if you had problems so that I could make changes if necessary. You can update all the draws from any of the 3 programs, once the updates are done you will have to close the program and restart for it to read the new information..

Once you download the program, unzip it, double-click the 'setup' program, it will go through the installation, you just have to click in the appropriate places, do not change the path that it saves the program in or it won't find the data... Once the install is finished you will have a new program group in your 'start' 'all programs >' area called "Snides" in there will be the 3 programs, on/49, 6/49, and lottario. simply click on the one you want to use..

Top left box titled "Go to Draw #" you can type the draw number that you want to 'go to', the program will wheel tickets for the draw after that. You can scroll down the list in the big dark blue text box in the top left to see what the last draw was, then type in that number to wheel for the first draw in the future..

Next two boxes beside that are "sum skip to wheel combo's for", first box is the low number, second is the high number. So you can wheel from 24 'to' 41, or (as you'll see) you can enter both numbers the same like 41 to 41 if you just want to wheel combo's with a skip sum of 41.

beside those two boxes is the button to start the wheeling action, the draw number being wheeled for will already be entered in the box to the right showing which draw the tickets are meant for. So ya just click the 'wheel tickets for draw #' and away she goes... Remember to change the filters before you wheel or it will use the defaults..

I think the rest is self-explainitory, just play around and figure it out.. the grid of green numbers on the bottom right can be clicked to turn a number to orange..

So.. I guess just play with it and let me know what you like/dislike and tell me if you have any 'bugs' to report or questions about how to use it..

Haven't downloaded it but... what if somebody is not interested in on/49, 6/49, and lottario but in something else?

I took a look at the webpage but didn't download it... ...if I won big, I'd be looking at it for fun. Once I'm proficient with a langauge, those kinds of things slow you down... ...good enough to help you learn though:agree2:.

Again, tastes and ways of doing things are different. You might use arrays in your programming and you might need a faster processor. Somebody else will keep old processor and use Case selection. In both ways you don’t need a mouse. But if you drink a coffee reading the newspapers, it is pretty disadvantageous to avoid using it.
However, as I said, it seems that the Windows nutshell advantages are far from reaching for many overseas OS makers.

BTW, if you missed to learn or interested to learn any of the present programming languages here is a nice tool. A powerful freeware editor that supports something like 20 programming languages.

Still, you might need to use mouse to download it. :)

:goodluck:

SOL???...... Snides on line?

I meant a quite few guys from the other provinces might spent a few weeks riding a horse to get there in order to play lottario and the other local one. I know it is easier to get there by a plane or using a car, but what if your local lottery is regulated requiring a mandatory residence? It would be somewhat a waste of money for the ticket or gasoline then…

Therefore, for some maybe is better to play a local 6/49 without traveling there…but how to implement a database?

Gsobier, that site has a very good VB tutorial also. I believe quite a few lottery players might find it intersting...

BTW, you might know is it possible to delete a thread wrongly posted twice here? I see only the edit button...

Hello Snides,

It's 4:30 PM on Wed. and this is the first chance to really play with the program. Late last night thought about backing up system, then checked board, saw your message, and realized backing up my personal files and programs by hand (I don't want to have to pay for software for backing up my stuff)would take really long time. Anyway, I have a set of Recovery CD's. So I downloaded 'er at about 11:00 PM.
Had a couple of messages to do with Microsoft while downloading - my version "Jet Sort Library" and "Jet Database Engine International Dll" more up to date than yours, so my PC claimed. Kept my version as recommended. Took a look and decided I was too tired and didn't want to screw it up last night so didn't touch it.

Today, program up and running, a few minutes into it and I've already scr***d it up.
Had "run time error - data conversion error" - in middle of trying to update Lottario. Tried playing with this. Maybe I hit update twice, but now I have 2 entries for last draw Saturday the 9th of October, 2004. How do I edit this?

And another question, once the date/data has been posted for a draw, it can only go forward from there. The date for next draw is already preselected in the field and a person using program has no choice about that.
I think I will just ask about those issues for now. No hurry or pressure here. When you have the time.
:)

64-bit architecture is the newest thing. There was 31, and 24 bit preceeding 64.

You'd never notice many things looking around there... ...one being fiber optic for disk I/O... ...much faster than the toy on everyones desktop.

A long time ago, the processor would not fit in a closet and was water cooled... ...some serious equipment... ...now, its air cooled and no larger than a standup kitchen fridge.

heh.. If that someone knew enough about access, and had it installed on his/her system, they could replace any of the 3 tables with their own local 6/## +B lotto. Or they could show me where to get the full history of their lotto and it could be added into future versions (at some point i may combine them and allow selecting a database to use, but not yet..).

Well Mirage.. I guess I'll hafta work on that edit feature we've been discussing.. there is no way to edit yet... I'll post a link to a copy of an up to date database file and give you instructions on what to do with it, either tonight or tomorrow..

As for the date, you do have a choice, when you click on the date box, the program fills in the date it thinks you want to enter, but you can change it.. once the data has been posted, you cannot remove/edit it..

The error that you got, must be because one the the 'number' fields for the lottario draw was either blank or the date was in the wrong format.. (this is the reason I put in the auto-date feature). But when entering the numbers from the draw, you'll notice that when you click on each box it will blank out to speed up entering time.. if one of those boxes remained blank you'll get that error. you can also use 'tab' to go from the first box to the 7th instead of hitting enter. remember the bonus number too.. that's beside the button and below the 6th position, it starts with a 'B' in it to indicate Bonus.

I didn't add much error-trapping in the updating portion yet.. next release will have that so that this error can be avoided :)

Download the up to date database here

Save this overtop of the existing database which you will find in C:/Program files/Snides

I guess I should mention that when the program runs it dumps files into this folder as well.. you'll find 2 for each lotto, one is the same skip information you see on the screen, and the other is the Tickets produced for each lotto. These files are overwritten each time the programs run, so if you want to save any of them you should rename them before running the program.

Hello Snides,

Saved MirageLotto to C:/Program Files/Snides, etc., but when tried to open program got "run time error 3343 - unrecognised database..." . Is it possible it is the mdb?
In any case, I have to retire for the evening now as another busy day tomorrow. Thanks!

havn't got a for sure reason for that.. could be that the file was corrupted during your download or saving it, or there is some mention of a bug in the jet 3.51 using VB 5.0 (microsoft's software) not mine.. Microsoft claims that this bug is fixed in VB 6.0 (which is what I used for this) so the second reason shouldn't apply..

I downloaded the file myself and plopped it on my laptop for testing and I couldn't reproduce the error.. I suggest downloadin the mdb file again and save it in the same place, if you have the same problem I'll look into what might be causing it..

You mentioned that during install some files you had were newer so you kept them (which is a good idea) but maybe this is where the problem is.. have you install service pack 2 on your machine yet? I havn't done this on either system, so maybe I should put it on the laptop to test that out..
