Printer for GH stats.

I have a technical question. I print out Gail Howards stat pages on a regular printer. What kind of printer would print all the numbers across on one page. As it is now, it requires 3 separate pages to print out the 1 to 47. I'm looking to buy a used one on ebay if possible. Thanks, Jennifer

This has nothing to do with the printer, but the page setup.

File > Page Setup / Print Preview / Margins

If you are printing directly from GH's software, there should/may be a button or option to adjust printer settings. Simply replacing the printer will not solve your problem, Iamswamee. Good luck. :)

GH is not easy to change cuz it's DOS, with a windows support prog. By default it will print as Iamswamee says.

I got around that by 'printing to file' and then using a text editor (like WordPad).

For example, when printing chart 3.QUICK STATS: F-2 print>F-Print to Disc File>Name xxx>Enter

Locate xxx file in main GH folder>right click>Open with WordPad.

The display will 'portrait' one page with 1-47 on left side, top to bottom ... easy to print from there, or edit lines if needed.

Others may have a better way but this works for me,

Cheers

P.S ... press F9 for printer setup check

GH stats

Thanks, Shirazbai. I'm going to try a few things. The GH program is directed to my windows for printing. Until I figure it out, or maybe never, I will cut and glue. Jennifer

Brad, thanks, I was not aware that GH was DOS. What with all those millions she rakes in, you'd think she could afford to put out a software that's a bit more in tune with the times.

DOS can be a pain in the a$$

I don't usually print with GH much but use the print to disc thinghy for history files at times.
The prog will run OK in windows just can't use the mouse tho.

Cheers

GH stats printing

Brad, followed your steps, but alas, it did not give me what I want. What I wonder is there a lottery software program similar to GH's that will print 1 - 47 numbers on one page instead of 3? Any ideas out there. Thanks, Jennifer

Which stat chart in GH are you printing? Also give me the name of your lotto (and GH abbreviation) so I can try to duplicate, maybe I can get it to work.

Printing No. 4 drawings since hit

Brad, I am printing drawings since hit charts. I tried opening in wordpad and word. It lists the numbers in three rows at the top. I like to look at all the numbers across top - one row- with the stats under them. So, I print out and tape together. Thanks for your help!!!:D Jennifer

this is what i just tried and it works pretty good, i used our canada super 7 since it has 47 balls.

1. Like Brad said, print your last page of chart 4 into a file.
2. open with word etc.
3. copy from word and paste in excel.
4. replace doubles spaces with a single space.
5. then convert text to columns, using delimited and make sure the tab , space is selected and also the other use = |
6. do this to all 3 sets to get your 47 colimns.
then cut the bottom to columns to the top 1 to stitch all 3 sets to make 47 columns.
7. select the new 47 and do a format-column-autofit [note get rid of any extra stuff, like a big line of dashes that would make the 1st column too big].
8. while still having the 47 columns selected do a file-printarea-set print area.
9. goto file-page setup and set to lansdscape and also fit to print to 1 page also sets the margins real small, i used .2 for top bottom right left and header footer, also select print gridlines.
10. print = looks beautifull all on 1 page. lots of work though

:agree2:

Not much help from here. Before I got this Lexmark Z605, the Z035 I believe has a printer set up option for DOS. If I really want a copy of anything that I couldn't print, I use Snag It.
I can still use my old matrix printer if printing from DOS and there is no problem so far.

Try using Charles2's suggestion. Don't forget to change your font size, I use size 6 Arial Narrow for smaller prints for your landscape page set up.

Good luck.

Charles2 thanks

I cut and pasted the information that you gave me. Thank you so much for taking the time to post the information. I am developing my own little graph and entering it by hand. Once I get the info in it should be easy to maintain. If I can just remember to save it to a disk in case of puter problems. :D Jennifer

Jennifer:

Sure looks like you guys need some help here... ...this is one of those where the solution could be more complicated than the problem... ...all you need is an escape sequence recognized by your printer... ...all the other complicated things are not required if you print with DOS. I'm in DOS more than all you guys put together instead of using the mouse... ...depending on what you are using as in Windows 98:notme: or Windows XP:notme:, as an example... ...I'm on Windows XP here.

Tell me which Windows you are using and the printer you have... ...once I have that, I'll be able to show you how to control the printer in DOS. (its important to know which Windows and the kind of printer you have because my answer will be different).

Regards,
George:)

Re: George

Jennifer:

Windows 98, yuk:sick:... ...not a problem... ...instead of a real print command like Windows XP, you use the copy command in Windows 98 DOS.

The most important and awkward is putting an escape character into a file? Do you know how to do this? It looks like an arrow pointing left in DOS and in an editor. If you do, this will be easy to do.

The printer you have is an inkjet, correct?

Have you figured out how to get into an MS-DOS window? If the answer is yes, have you ever used the edit command? (I will show you how to create a printer control file next with edit, its easy as pie.)

Regards,
George:)

Brad:

Didn't you catch and eat that mouse of your's yet kitty???.. ...stick around, I'll show you guys how to get the job done with those printers:agree2:. Most printers understand the same control commands from the escape sequences I'm going to help Jennifer with:agree:.

Dot Matrix, InkJet, Laser, don't matter, its all the same... ...if your printer was built in somewhere like Iraq, you're SOL:lol:.

George:)
