Sheeba, Lotto 6/49 sales will continue to go down. $2 per one selection is just too expensive. It's not acceptable.

They lost my sales.. I play no extra's at all now . The only time I will is when it hit 25 Million, For tomorrow I bought 1 extra ticket besides my regular lines..If they were 1.00 per Line I probabaly would have spent more..

Thats interesting and confusing at the same time... ...you would by more... ...does this mean more in the way of sets or $$$? I'm thinking the same amount of money towards playing which means less sets... ...the more sets you play, the better the chance to snag something.

Regards,
George:)

As you know George I use to always play a set of numbers in a small wheel besides my own regular 2 Lines and always had the back-up plan too. But since the price increase :burnt: I have refused to do so. I will do the back-up plan only when the JP is 25 Million or More and then it is 1 Extra Ticket . So they lost my $$$$ in sales for sure.
Most people I have talked too still just buy the same amount of money in insta piks ( But less tickets).

Tickets sold might be down but if taken on $ amount then sales seem to have gone up. Less tickets more money.

I agree, the $$ in sales is higher but have lost alot of players. I think it will continue to go lower as people can't keep paying double of what they use too.

A friend of mine was in a group of 4 or 5 playing with the 8 number tickets ($22 or $28 twice a week, can't remember) and they'd been playing for years, but not any more.

But I guess we shouldn't complain, I mean ALL the money is going into our health care like it's supposed too, isn't it ???

Yes, number of sets played was lower... ...money collected was higher... ...the bottom line is money talks and they are collecting a better revenue now:burnt: so, I don't think city hall would be able to force a change.

I had not seen this article in the Sun , but I highlighted a quote that I found amusing...........

Winning big's gonna cost ya

VENERABLE 6/49 TICKET NOW $2

By BRETT CLARKSON, TORONTO SUN

Add another buck to the price of the 6/49. For the first time in its 22-year history, the venerable Lotto 6/49 has gone up in price.

The national lottery -- now $2 -- had always been $1, but that changed when the ticket prices doubled from a loonie to a toonie on Sunday.

Yesterday, the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. marked the introduction of the "bigger and better" (and more expensive) 6/49 by staging a launch complete with a 25-member marching band at its Toronto headquarters.

OLGC spokesman Jim Cronin justified the price hike as something lottery buyers wanted because it means bigger jackpots. Instead of a $2-million base jackpot, it's now $4 million. Half of the jackpots are expected to hit $10 million, with some even expected to be $25 million.

Also new to the biweekly lottery is a new $5 prize category, in which players can win by matching two of six numbers plus the bonus.

Because sales of 6/49 tickets had been declining in recent years, the five Canadian regional lottery companies that form the Interprovincial Lottery Corp. decided they needed to come up with a way to beef up sales.

"We needed to do something to ensure people continue to play the game on a regular basis," Cronin said.

So, after conducting market research interviews with about 4,500 people, Cronin said, the lottery companies found 6/49 sales had been dropping because its jackpots, unlike the $2 Super 7 and its $25 million pots, just weren't big enough.

"They told us, 'We want a bigger jackpot and we're willing to pay a high price point for that,'" Cronin said.

Probably the 4500 people surveyed were "The Rich Brats!".

A 2 Million Dollar prize was like pennies to them....
