Number Combination Formula

Hello,

I'll get right to it...

Just wondering if anyone could figure out how many different combinations from the information below:

If I picked 45 numbers from the 70 in Keno and thought that 10 out of the 20 winning numbers were in the 45 that I picked, what are the different combinations that I would need to have in a group of 10 per ticket?

you'd be looking at 3 189 283 796 total combinations.
Even if you were to wheel them your odds would be undesirable.Also that is to state that a minimum of 10 out of 20 is hit with accuracy time and time again.

45/10 = 4.5
44/9 = 4.888...
43/8 = 5.375
42/7 = 6
41/6 = 6.833...
40/5 = 8
39/4 = 9.75
38/3 = 12.666...
37/2 = 18.5
36/1 = 36

4.5 x 4.888 x 5.375 x 6 x 6.833 x 8 x 9.75 x 12.666 x 18.5 x 36
= 3189283795.473430824

Spreadsheet formula expanded:

(45*44*43*42*41*40*39*38*37*36)/(1*2*3*4*5*6*7*8*9*10)

Same as =COMBIN(45,10)

Result:

3190187286

Agreed. I expanded the formula to display what may have been indistinct to those who don't understand the COMBIN function.

As an aside, decimal calculations should be avoided wherever and whenever possible when working with whole numbers (integers).

I would like assistance with picking canadian keno numbers better. The highest number being 70 not 80 as it is for american keno.

Eastern Canada and France, among others, use a 20/70 Keno board instead of the more usual 20/80 board found almost everywhere else.

20/70 - 161,884,603,662,658,000 total possibilities.
20/80 - 3,535,316,142,212,170,000 total possibilities.

As a result, odds of certain events occurring are lowered, but not to the same proportion. For instance:

10 of 10, 20/70 - 184,756 possibilities in any drawing, odds 2,147,180.74::1
10 of 10, 20/80 - 184,756 possibilities in any drawing, odds 8,911,711.18::1

I have no specifics on predictions. There are many systems other people use you might take a look at. gl
