About QuickPicks you said:
" That is one of the best strategies I have seen in this forum".

Now you are saying:

you have the same odds of winning the jackpot whether you use a Quick Pick or choose your own numbers

Maybe Powerball read what I put in 649 discussions for August 7.

Excerpt from Beaker's post:

***************

Because they have just as much chance as any other number??

Let's make it simple. Say you have 2 die ie dice. Do you bet a sum of 2 ie snake eyes 1-1 or do you bet a sum of 7. ie 1-6,2-5,3-4,4-3,5-2,6-1?

Play to win

***************

Probably for the first time I have to take exception to a post by Beaker. Comparing throwing dice to lottery games is like comparing apples to oranges, EXCEPT in Pick 3, 4, 5 and 6 games where duplicate numbers can occur. Throwing two dice has 36 possibilities, and a 2/6 lottery would have but 15 - 1-2, 1-3, 1-4, 1-5, 1-6, 2-3, 2-4, 2-5, 2-6, 3-4, 3-5, 3-6, 4-5, 4-6 and 5-6. The sum of 7 argument retains its validity, although there are but 3 possibilities, not 6.

If duplicate numbers were permitted in a 6/49 game there would have to be six sets of 49 balls - or six separate drawings of one ball from a full set of 49. There would be 13,841,287,201 possibilities (NOT allowing for sorted duplicates), not 13,983,816. The lowest possible sum would be 6 (1-1-1-1-1-1), not 21 (1-2-3-4-5-6). The highest possible sum would be 294 (49-49-49-49-49-49), not 279 (44-45-46-47-48-49).

Given this, I'd have to go along with Brad's statement. Any set of six specific numbers has the same chance of being drawn as any other set, no matter how much analysis is done or how eerie it may seem to appear.

Beaker:

These ideas Power:bawl: has are :clown:.

...odds?... ...oh, give me a break...

We have to look at it this way... ......out of all the sets played, what is the percentage of sets played by well informed players, hum???

For arguments sake, lets say anyone selecting numbers without taking into consideration recent draw history or things like announcers is declared a Quick Pick. Power:bawl: pointed out 31 is the most frequent (big deal) and there is much more to it... ...I wonder if Power:bawl: really knows who to select realistic numbers:confused:.

So, how many are Quick Picks??? About 95% are probably Quick Picks. Claims of Quick Picks doing better is only because of the population of Quick Picks is almost 100%!

Regards,
George:)

We have had BIG winners at this site from both QPiks and picking your own.

You decide what to spend and the way to play - either way.

...same odds, yes, so what... ...you failed to realize players who know what they are doing have better potential... ...there are only a few, very few... ...you should post your sets to demonstrate your expertise or your Quick Picks:lol:!

All I am saying is that you have the same odds of winning the jackpot whether you use a Quick Pick or choose your own numbers. Lottery analysis can be a fun hobby so keep spending time on it, but at least realize that it won't improve your chances of winning that $29 million jackpot on Saturday.

Good LUCK!

Frank:

If you trap those numbers just right, it could be you... ...go for it Frank:agree2:!

...oh ya, here is where you can get announcers for the next draw (2144) here...

You considered the best strategy, one that has the same odds as the other! It's not logical.

About improving players chances, you go on confounding issues. Players don't want to improve their chances, they want to win a prize. You go on thinking that, a very low probability occurrence will never happen. As you know, someone will win the jackpot, next Saturday or next Wednesday. Why not me?

Only one answer can be correct at this moment (or till the draw), and you know it don't you?

All the others can be wrong...

That was exactly my point ... somehow it got lost in the non-sensical 1,2,3,4,5,6 being overdue joke ....

PowerBall's (proven??) statements as to QPs vs picked numbers are ambiguous at best

Don't tell me, your team hit a more difficult prize than 3_hits ($10) and you winned only $5!!!

As charles2 says RIPOFF, isn't it?

The worst of it is, we used up all our extra funds for last nights draw, now we only have our usual amt. for Saturday. A few of us wanted to spend only half, but, majority ruled and they wanted to blow the whole enchilada. :dang: Needless to say, this morning they were regretting that move.
