More problems at OLG

More of the same from Atlantic Lotto:

Lottery ticket sellers won 10 times more often than statistically they should have over the last six years, the Atlantic Lottery Corp. said Wednesday.
So far, the review hasn't shown any wrongdoing by retailers in the four Atlantic provinces, an official said.

"Can I statistically explain why retailers are winning 10 times more? No, I can't, and I'm not going to sit here and speculate as to why," said Mike Randall, a corporation vice-president.

Retailers luckier than expected, Atlantic Lotto says

Brad and LottoGroups

I see it gets worse by time :)
But it's perhaps our turn to win something tonight :)
The Looting Corps better come clean, and fix the problem. Their cloak and dagger approach will result in a greater lack of trust from the consumer, which is something that will reflect in lower ticket sales.
Haven't been following the size of the Jack Pots much lately but I recall some here commenting they've gotten smaller of late, time-frame of which seems to coincide with breaking of the story (Oct '06) by the Fifth Estate. The Lotto Corps can ill afford more bullet holes in their proverbial foot.

On the other hand, maybe something good will come from a lotto-consumers' 'revolt' ... like rolling the cost per ticket back to a buck, eh?
I won't hold my breath on that one though ... :D

Good Luck tonite :agree2: ... and may the Lotto Gods take pitty on my picks, Quick though they may be ;)

Most definetly that is a disturbing trend and from some of the cases I read, the lottery retailers seem to be thieves.Well, first and foremost,as long as the draws are securely conducted without fraud,I dont really care about anything else.I dont condone acts of crime but in this case, you snooze, you lose.Anyone on this site who has the audacity to claim that they would not steal a winning ticket if they had an opportunity to do so is just concealing their greed.I know I would, and without a second thought. All those affected were probably the most lazy, ignorant, and the most oblivious people that ever walked the face of this planet.Theres different people winning massive amounts of money everyday and if someone handed over their mere investment not realizing that it could be a potential winner, and that it could offer a substantial reward, and that money changes more people around you than it does you, well then thats TOO BAD.Even the nicest retailer would take advantage if the ticket he just checked was worth millions and the fool who handed it to him is walking around shopping for snacks or whatever. The winning numbers are broadcasted everynight on cp24,printed in major newspapers the following day,are on the olgc website almost instantly after the draw,AND the lottery retailers also print them.Unless your blind or illiterate, theres no reson why you cant do it yourself. No disrespect, but thats just my opinion.

:eek2: REALLY? In which game and what are the odds for that game? What means massive amounts? A million?

Never have seen a JP winner in live.......have seen many famous actors or such in live for example, but not remember seeing a single JP winner . Have seen some of them on pictures and in TV commercials though...

Tom,my friend, olgc has so many games, not only the draws. You would be surprised at how many unclaimed scratch ticlets over 50 gs are probably lost or in the trash cans. Some retailers print that out for you to see.Massive amounts of money doesnt necessarily have to be in the millions.Anything beyond a year of my salary is more than decent.:thumb:

Well, I was always thinking that there is a lot of reasonable players, so nice to confirm.....

But somehow, here is word about possible fraud where some retailers might me involved and I believe huge majority of retailers are OK. I always had sympathy for some of hard working corner store retailers where I was buying ciggies and my morning coffee, who were carrying them boards showing some huge millions at least twice a day, yet possibly fighting to survive selling ciggies, groceries and the other stuff…

On the other hand, I was very disappointed in lottery after finding that there might be real many games which might not have a JP winner for many many months, yet JP stills the same. Always wondered what the purpose of these games and such odds is. Especially if there is a noticeable lack of widely affordable lotto games with good odds that should produce JP winners more frequently, and therefore many winners at all levels of the game… And by the lotto game I mean something that uses ball machine and it is possible to see on TV, but not in TV commercials only, without draws.

<.. might me involved ..>

Well, it seems LT disabled editing…here should be “might be involved” , as I believe that just insignificant number of retailers might be involved in some kind of cheating. Huge majority of retailers are IMO usual honest and hard working guys, as I never had any bad experiences while checking my tickets, and always have had my tickets returned to me after checking….

I agree with everything you said Tom but unfortunately there are always bad apples that make the other ones look rotten.I've never had a bad experience with a retailer myself and I know they are hard working people but I would rather be safe than sorry.Besides, the olgc is government operated so there is probably more fraud involved within than out that were not even aware of.Since when has the government been fair and honest with the people. For that matter, has it ever, and sadly the answer is no.
