Keno strategies with no game analysis?

Does anyone have any good strategies for playing keno with no game analysis?

The reason I ask is that I've found a place to play California HotSpot 80number field keno. It is about 45mins away, but I might go down to play sometime for the heck of it.

Currently there is no draw history available to download, and there are 301draws everyday between 6:04am & 2am, a draw every 4minutes over 20hours whew!!

The playslip can cover as many as 100 consecutive draws.

Can play 2,3,4,5 or 8 numbers.

Bets can be $1,2,3,4,5,10, or $20 yikes!

Typical payout scale:
2/2 = $8
3/3 = $16
4/4 = $50
4/5 = $10
5/5 = $300
5/8 = $10
6/8 = $40
7/8 = $500
8/8 = $10k

Perhaps I'll just try to work out a lucky set, and let it ride a heap of consecutive draws and hope for the best:liplick:

It'd be nice to find a pick recipe that'd perform well over time...maybe I'll have to do some programming to try to benchmark a few strategies I have in mind:agree:

From The California Lottery's web site, places to play HotSpot in Encinitas:

CAPTAIN KENOS 158 N HWY 101 ENCINITAS 92024
SHELL CAR WASH ENCINITAS RANCH 1060 N EL CAMINO REAL ENCINITAS 92024

Payouts are pari-mutuel. Payout percentages are set by CA law.

hiya John, thanks for scouting that...I'll have to check out that place sometime, it is just a few miles away :)

anyway, I emailed a request for California lottery to post at least a day or maybe 2 of HotSpot results on their website. it'd be great if they'd be so kind, I think they'd get more regular players.

it'd be nice to be able to do some analysis instead of blind play, or trying to run in-game analysis. I'd rather run stats on a full day's 301draws and be prepared for playin a system on say the opening 40draws the next morning :)

BTW: I added KENO draw simulator to my pages as I try to benchmark how some of my picks could perform.

use bingo scratchers for keno picks

hmmm, my wife picked up a California lottery bingo scratcher.
http://www.calottery.com/Games/Scratchers/3ScratcherGallery/CA449Blue-BingoExtra.htm

close but no cigar this time around.

as Roger suggested playin Keno with the PayDay payslip in Canada, likewise I could pull numbers from the matrixes on one of these bingo scratchers.

the bingo scratcher is an even better method since the numbers associated with B-I-N-G-O already give me distribution through the 74number field, which is just 6shy of the 80num field for HotSpot.

hmmm, diggin through the scratchers page, I see they actually have a HotSpot scratcher.

and odds aren't bad scratcherwise for prizes $100 to $500:

I think you should concentrate on the smaller games
- use adjacent pairs liberally
- try to see if any numbers have a tendency to come together

hi Roger, thank you very much for the tips :)

I had been thinkin of shootin for 2,3,4...now even more so after seeing your suggestion to bet $2.

HotSpot has the bullseye option too, so there are heaps of bet variations.

Perhaps bettin more to exploit better odds would be the way to go :)

I'm going to run more tests to try to determine which variations would be best. If I could simply break even while I eat a meal, or win enough to pay for my meal I'd be happy :)

Are you able to make notes while the individual draws
are taking place. Because then you can prepare a matrix in advance and use it to
help pick your numbers in between draws.

Also what is the gap between the numbers on the Bingo Scratcher ?
My guess is a gap of 9 to 11 would get some decent hits for 20/80 Keno.

Sorry for the delay - I wasn't ignoring you or your question, I never re-opened this thread since I posted my earlier reply.

Yes, I'm in CA - Palm Springs.

I don't think I've ever done the workup on HotSpot with the Bullseye option but with the state regulations being what they are, I'd doubt if there would be much of an improvement in the payout percentages, if any, if one were to exercise that option. The pari-mutuel payouts ruin the game for me, though, so I seldom play it or any other CA lottery game.

I haven't had time to drop by the place yet or really look into the bingo scratcher much...the one I have has some pretty wide gaps between the numbers in each slot...skimmin I see much higher gaps.

Anyway, when I upgrade my phone, I am considering gettin a smartphone that'll run spreadsheets so I can run the numbers :)

Usin my keno draw simulator, so far a zero game analysis strategy breaks even or +20% at best. So it looks like playin a static set on a block of consecutive draws might be a waste of time.

hiya johnph77,

no problem. ah you are strategically placed near Vegas heh!

yes the California pari-mutuel payouts can sometimes be a big turn off!

CA Lottery is rakin in money hand over fist, they can afford to have reasonable fixed payouts based upon the odds beaten.

however, sometimes pari-mutuel payouts work greatly in my favor on the Daily3 game:agree:

it is ashame having to avoid certain variations of numbers, because if they win there are too many people piggybackin on 'em.

anyway, you are right...the pari-mutuel can sometimes really ruin a game. also the HotSpot game has lame payouts in comparison to Keno lottery in Canada...and to top it off they don't even have to pay taxes on it:eek:

take it easy,
