Just wondering.

LT,

Brad .. thanks that is a great link to useful pop ad killers but did you notice that to get to that site you are exposed to their pop up ads Which brings me to another point ....

it is Florie who deserves to be thanked for the link ... she provided it, I grabbed it ... but you're right, I thought it ironic to have to swim through pop-ups to get a pop-up killer :D, it's a one time swim though, the prog works really well (thanks again Florie).

I don't mind the ads so much as it is a small 'price' to pay for having unrestricted access to this great site, after a while I prob won't even notice them as they'll sorta become part of the scenery. If you think the pay per click suggestion will pay well, say it generates 100 clicks/day ... anyone here can do the math ;) ... I won't mind pitching in at all,

Cheers

PS. Sheba thanks for your link too

I agree with Brad. Initially I was a little annoyed at the ad for this reason. One of the great aspects of this community is it's kept nice and clean. By that I mean the people are nice, the site isn't cluttered with all kinds of annoying garbage the comments are constructive and contribute to the overall atmosphere.

My feeling was this was changing.

LT, I have no problem with you trying to recoup some your costs with a little advertising - and I agree - don't make this a pay site

You can make this a pay site when 1 or 2 of us hit the jackpot

Another thought that I had was to put a rotational ad pay per click vs pay per sale ad
I like this. :agree2: - at least it is something a little different.

With the casino ad, I already don't notice it, except when I don't have the pointer on "home" and I accidentally click the casino link.

LT, there is a reason that this site has become so popular and that is the community is great and so is our host.

Continued success and congratulations :agree:

Thanks LT

I can't thank LT enough for what he has done for me and the WINHunter Project thus far. I totally understand his position on this, as I have had to face similar choices in order for me to continue working with WINHunter. Only in my case, the only choice I have is if it's free. Supporting freeware is hard to do, and I can only assume that this website is LT's second love...

Without LT's help, not only would I have a ugly website, I would still not be ranked in the major search engines!

LT has been a big help, and so anything I can do to repay the kindness he has shown, I will gladly do.

Like most people I find ads annoying and generally just ignore them. I once came across some place that presented such an honest home-spun *if you like this site support it thru these links* approach that I actually spent some time clicking the links to help them. You could do a link page and once a month or so we could all go click banners? Just an idea.

Can't add much to everyones response...
Keep the site free and do anything to keep it that way...
I don't mind clicking on ads if it will help the cost of keeping this a free site...

Great Job LT with your response as I knew you would explain and make everything clear!

LT,

The idea of a rotating banner is a good one, that and the Lotto ad at the bottom are perfectly acceptable!

Thanks everyone for your valid concerns, comments and willingness to help out. Sorry florie for giving the link kudos to the wrong person
I have taken off the casino banner .. gone but not forgotten :) I couldn't stand the look of it. Green on a blue background makes me feel  and also it made the header too deep. What I will do is find a family freindly rotational banner for the top but I will re design the logo to go beside it so that the top of the page is only one row deep not two like it was with the casino banner.
Not to worry neither this nor any of my site will ever get that clutterred look :dang:
The whole issue will be resolved soon when Dennis hits the Big One :cow: and then he would send 100 + dollars per year to sponsor this web site. That means Dennis that you would be the official patron of the site like a patron saint. I like the sound of ST Dennis  :D
And I want to ask one more favour of you. After the jackpot hits and before you leave for parts unknown pleeeeeeezzzzze take me fishing with you. I know you know where the big ones are!
Again everyone thanks for all of the input and help.

LT Just give me your adress or a CP. postal box to remain anonymous and you won't have any $$$$$ problem but I have no intention of being the boss or saint patron of this site I just couldn't do the great job that you do day in and day out!
You're the best!

As you can see from the top of the page, the casino banner is back. I have changed the logo - made it smaller so that both the logo and any future banners will fit on one row so that it wont take up any more space than the original logo. A border has been added to the banner to slightly diminish the ugly green on blue background effect. The casino banner is not a rotational ad banner so unless you want to go to a casino, don't bother to click on it. I'm still checking out various rotational ad banner set ups.
