(IRISH 645) Lotto Plus 2

I noticed when updating my Irish Lotto DataBase this morning that the Irish Lotto Plus 2 for Wednesday 02 October 2013 had an unusual run of numbers drawn, it included a Quintuple...

05, 06, 07, 08, 09, 33 Bonus 19

Here is the Consecutive numbers distribution for a 645 Lotto...

111111 = 3,838,380 Combinations = 47.1253% = Expected 1 In Every 2.12 Draws
211110 = 3,290,040 Combinations = 40.3931% = Expected 1 In Every 2.48 Draws
221100 = 548,340 Combinations = 6.7322% = Expected 1 In Every 14.85 Draws
222000 = 9,880 Combinations = 0.1213% = Expected 1 In Every 824.40 Draws
311100 = 365,560 Combinations = 4.4881% = Expected 1 In Every 22.28 Draws
321000 = 59,280 Combinations = 0.7278% = Expected 1 In Every 137.40 Draws
330000 = 780 Combinations = 0.0096% = Expected 1 In Every 10,442.38 Draws
411000 = 29,640 Combinations = 0.3639% = Expected 1 In Every 274.80 Draws
420000 = 1,560 Combinations = 0.0192% = Expected 1 In Every 5,221.19 Draws
510000 = 1,560 Combinations = 0.0192% = Expected 1 In Every 5,221.19 Draws
600000 = 40 Combinations = 0.0005% = Expected 1 In Every 203,626.50 Draws
Totals = 8,145,060 Combinations = 100.0000%

When you think that there are ONLY 1,560 combinations that this can apply to, it is unusual, but that being said, every combination has as much chance as ANY other combination of being drawn.

Just thought I would share this with you guys!

PAB

Did anyone win it? just out of interest.
Yes there was one winner from Dublin, no surprise there then!

6 Numbers = 1 Winner = 250,000 Euro's.

Its a brave choice of numbers, unless it was a lucky dip. We know all numbers have an equal chance, but some look more unlikley than others just because we recognise the sequence.

I think it must have been a QP. Most people choosing those sorts of numbers would play 4-5-6-7-8-9 or 5-6-7-8-9-10, NOT 5-6-7-8-9-33.

Its these sorts of occurrences that make lotto so interesting!

I am pretty sure you are correct.

I did actually email our Lotto provider Camelot to ask them what algorithm they used for the Lucky Dips, same as Quick Picks in Canada I assume, and as usual, they were very non committal self.
I have actually got a selection of RNG's that I wrote if I decide to go down that root for any particular UK Lotto.

Again, I agree, BUT, people class different circumstances and events as personal, maybe those numbers have some personal or romantic meaning only to them, we will never know!

The Ontario Lotto Commission posts a short story about each of the winners on their website, so you can often find out if the winning numbers were Quick Picks or personal picks and, if the latter, they may say that the numbers are from a dream or family birthdays, etc.

Of course, I would tell them that the numbers were produced by a secret formula of my own devising that could predict the lotto outcome. And then I woke up...
