ABout SP2 for Windows XP, my only advice to people is that they should not rush to install it!
First understand what you are going to get, search a bit on the net to see what others, with similar systems/programs than the ones you have, are doing. And what problems are they facing.
Microsoft did some changes on XPSP2 that will prevent many existing programs from running correctly, so inform yourself before continuing!
I will not argue about the merits of their decision, I am just glad that for once they actually took one!

PAB said:I have Ordered the SP2 CD-ROM from Microsoft, it's FREE.
I Believe the SP2 on the CD-ROM is 200+ Meg in Size.
When I did a Windows Update it said that my SP2 was about 80 Meg and would take 3 1/2 Hours to Download ( Dial Up ).
Will it be Better to Install SP2 from the CD-ROM when it Arrives, or Download and Install it from Windows Update.
I have Looked on Several News Groups and Cannot Believe the Sort of Problems that People have had with SP2.
Any Advice would be Greatly Appreciated.
All the Best

Don't do it... ...if your computer is more than a few years old SP2 will probably put a work load on it resulting in poor performance.

If you don't have something like a 2Ghz CPU and 1Gb of RAM you are also suffering from performance which is difficult to detect.
MicroSCRAP has made enough changes where the minimum CPU requirements for Windows XP are not realistic anymore. Just another reason to justify buying another computer... ...its like the guys building new computers to sell to you are in bed with the guys making changes to the operating system so its much more demanding on resources.
PAB is going in the direction they want buying a new one. Just like many who are buying a new one to escape spyware/adware problems.
