Heres the big question that everyone argues over;

When does the new Century start;

A. 2000
B. 2001

Me its B. (1 Jan 2001)

guess it depends if you call the first draw 0 or 1..
if you call it 0 then 99 would be one hundred draws..
if you call it 1 then 100 would be one hundred draws..

Since Peter said draw 2059, and we assume he's talking about 6/49 then he must have started at 1, so hopefully his century started at 2001.

Don't know for sure but since this is called the 21st century doesn't that imply 2001 - 2100? :notme:

here's what merriam-webster dictionary (www.m-w.com) says about the word century...

1 : a subdivision of the Roman legion
2 : a group, sequence, or series of 100 like things
3 : a period of 100 years especially of the Christian era or of the preceding period of human history
4 : a race over a hundred units (as yards or miles)

doesn't really specify when to start or end, just as long as there are 100 "like things"

Personally I would go with jan 1 2000 as being the beginning of a new century... Just like most of the world considered 2000 as the beginning of a new millenium.

In our nation we used to call the time by the events and the seasons cycles when that took place....So you have the time of the big snowstorm when the moon was high...The time of the wind when the sun faded...The time of the walleyes when the water ran dry...The time of pleg when the moon was gone..etc...Interestingly no words in our ancestral language related to the notion of years same thing for private property...A large record of that does exist and it has been passed on from generation to generation by words exchange...no written history of that can be find....But I can go back in time way behond the modern calendar to retrace some events... :agree: :agree2:
