Hi folks,
well I guess that you know that...Illinois legislature and their
governor, finally agreed to pull their fingers out and pay more than
"...3.1 billion dollars for lottery winners and help cities and towns operate
911 centers, plow roads and train firefighters... ."
It's bad enough that winners were cheated of their winnings but to hold hostage every day necessities such as, 911 centers; plowing roads and training fire fighters?!
Glad that I don't live in an area that says--"You play by my rules my way or I take my ball and go home.: :dang:

How Peevish and Small....:burnt:

That's bad news indeed!
But isn't a lottery meant to MAKE money for governments and good causes, i.e. only 50% of the total sale of tickets is available for the winners????
If I lived there I certainly wouldn't spend a single dollar on lotteries, and I bet many others do the same!!!!

Well, I am glad they finally made the right decision, even if it took 6 months and a lawsuit to do it. As far as I was concerned, selling lottery tickets that would not pay out a prize was out and out fraud!

As for 911 call centers, who would ever consider not funding such a thing??? It is no surprise that people are leaving Illinois in droves.

Good Luck!

Yes, it's sad that greed and petty snobbery are overtaking life there in Illinois but then, we are seeing this same crap in other places and ways. Major wars have been ongoing for century's all over this old world and in the name of "...My stick is bigger than your stick...!" It's apparent to me, anyway, that one word is beginning to say it all....BECAUSE!...
I prefer peace in all situations but there comes a time to end out of control BS and now would be a good time to be done with it.
I am getting PO'd right now so, I'll go (figure) and play some lottery!

howdy all, well pros & cons.

in most states, education has a monopoly on the lottery...I'd much rather have the money go to help battered women, orphaned children...departments of fire, police, filling potholes, etc. rather than fund liberal professors & commoncore indoctrination, etc.

in California, 85% of the money sent to education, goes to further pad teachers' salaries...and with the transparency of CA govt now, can look up salaries online...a local elementary school teacher pulls in $120k, ok let's fingerpaint kids! also top CA "educator" gets $2.5mil, a university football coach...

I think if lottery goes to education, it should be K-12 only.

Wow! $120K to teach school????

If the lottery is going to Education it should be in ways that directly benefit students, not grow the education bureaucracy.

They should subsidize college tuition, not crazy salaries for administrators and football coaches!
