Help with Excel Function

Can anyone tell me how to count numbers in a range that are in another range without counting each one individually and then adding the results. I could build a series of countifs in one formula, but a count Range of 50 takes a very long formula. I have tried the Countifs Function, but only get 0 as an answer.

Try this:

=SUM(COUNTIF(A1:A50,{list of values to count separated by commas}))
