Health Care

Short Opinions rather than scores on health care.

I have 3 children. I am 32. I make about $40K/Annum.
Oldest child (age 7) wears glasses. 2 visits to eye doctor covered.

Middle child(age 4) autistic disorder. $0 medical coverage. We do get some tax breaks for caring for a "disabled person under 18" but it really is a joke. He requires full time, one on one care. Therapy IS available at a full time cost of about $40K/Annum. There are MANY documented cases of autistic people being able to function with this therapy. Anti-psychoctic medications are not covered either. These help keep violent tendencies to a minimum and for shorter durations. They can have horrible side effects.

Baby of the litter (age 2) Turned bright purple one day. Diagnosed with Reynauds Phenomenon(a blood circulation disorder) He is always cold even when it was so humid here in Ontario this summer. Upon a visit to emergency in Kitchener, we were sent to London University Hospital VERY quickly. It was there we discovered that he has an aortic bicuspid valve. This means he does not have 3 flaps on one of his heart valves like most of us, but 2. This will cause excess wear on his heart over time and must see a cardiac specialist every year all of which is covered.

Therefore, I agree with an earlier post that Canadian health care will prioritize case by case, based on my experience with my 2 year old (which is fantastic), but grossly under fund people and families who require medical assistance and relief. (hence my little vent on this topic). With a budget surpluss of $9.1 BILLION, my wife and I certainly need a little more help than the $133.00 tax surplus refund we Canadians will see in April 2006. Not to mention the fact my son will need government assistance for the rest of his life because available therapies are not covered right now.

In closing, I suppose we view how good "health care" is, depending on our circumstances. We have had many.

Thank you for hearing me out, I speak out about this whenever possible and make no apologies.

No appologies needed, this is the situation you are in and I don't think anyone could say anything of it, and want an appology.

I am going to look into something, about the AB healthcare. I will get back to you.

Kosteczki: After re-reading some of Chucky's posts, I have learned a few things. He was never up-front with it, but now I know that he applies Laws of Physics to determine how the balls occur. He uses the 69 million+ for his determinations. And, feeling so smarter than everyone else, he felt that he didn't need to admit it, that no one would understand it. He kept harping about 6 combinations having occured having the same odds occuring again. Hence, Laws of Physics.
Reminds me of the old movie, "The Hustler" where the main character has a lot, or more talent, than most. But, the whole movie was about other characters recognizing his talent, but also knew that his super-ego would make a him a loser. It did.
People like Chucky have their heads in clouds so much that they don't understand sequential numbers very well. It' clear to me now that those who apply Physics to lotto possibilities are trying to accomplish the same goal as anyone else, but they are doing it 120 times harder than necessary (5/39) or 720 times harder than necessary of 6/49. How sad! W

adawg, I spoke with a co-worker of mine who has an Autistic child. Here in ALberta they don't get meds covered either but heir child goes to 5 differnet therapies, speech therapy being one of them and 4 others I forgot the details. This is covered by the gov here. They also get a care taker that onece in a while they can use for free so the whole family can get away from the hardships of taking care of this child and for the evening a professional takes care of him for free.

They say it's hard but they seem to get a lot of help, this child is now able to start going to a normal school where the gov has some programs in school for these children.

If you have the ability to transfer your position to Alberta maybe it's something you should consider.

Ohh yeah they where saying something about a new drug to help with autism and albertan's are trying to get it covered by the gov as well.

If there is anything I can help with or research for you, let me know.
