Has anybody done this?

Hi Guy's...

If we do not look at the numbers in the lotto but look at the ball types, we would have..
1 to 9 = a single
10 to 19 = a teen
20 to 29 = a twenty
30 to 39 = a thirty
40 to 49 = a forty
Therefore how many combinations would say: single, single, single, single, single, single have?
so how much money would it cost to cover every combination of all single balls? and would it be worth it...?
Then look at every permutation of every ball type....
This equates to 210 different types...
ie... single, teen, teen, twenty, thirty, forty or
single, teen, twenty, twenty, thirty, thirty etc etc etc

Question: where in the list of 210 would single, single, single, single, single, single be?
Answer: at the bottom... as it only needs $84 or £84 to cover every single combination...

So what is at the top of the 210 pile?;) and has it been drawn the most?

These are interesting statements but you should post these under the tips section on this board...
However from your analysis...Which decades would you choose to put 2 numbers???
Because...
01-09=single
10-19=teen
20-29=20s
30-39=30s
40-49=40s
That makes it 5 numbers where do you take the other one???:worry:
I have seen something like that but using multiples of 07..like
01-07=one
08-14=one
15-21=one
22-28=one
29-35=one
36-42=one
43-49=one
And the people doing this were playing the full 7 numbers wheel...

Hello Dennis

l may not have explained it correctly....
If we only look at the ball types, just the ball types without any pairs..we only get
1 to 9 = a single
10 to 19 = a teen
20 to 29 = a twenty
30 to 39 = a thirty
40 to 49 = a forty
There is not any other type of ball therefore all combinations of a 6 ball lotto must have come from the ball types above (of course there must be a minimum of two ball types for any given combo)
So if all the balls drawn were 'single' balls we can actually re-arrange them 84 different ways from 123456 to 456789 so if we knew all the balls that were gonna be drawn are all singles we need only buy 84 tickets to gurantee a win...
What we need to know next is how many ways can all the ball types be drawn? the answer is 210 different ways... now we know how many there are we can start finding out how many combinations belong to each ball set type... we already know that there are 84 combinations belonging to all the balls being single's.. now we need to know about all the others... have you done this Dennis?

l don't understand Dennis...filter what?

If we look at 'single, teen, twenty, thirty, thirty, forty
this has 405,000 combinations! it has been drawn 32 times
in the UK lotto since it began...

At the other end of the scale...
Single, Single, Single, Single, Single, Single, has 84 combinations and has never been drawn at all!

This is the very first stage of crunching for win lines...

As there are 210 different sets of ball types 'arangements' we can then start to think about what are the actual numbers we should be looking at to select...

http://www.lotteryexplained.co.uk/scenario.htm

Go here to see all 210 and how they have performed up until yesterday (UK)....it is fairly obvious as to where the first stage selection area should be to put money on....

Once we know which 'arrangements' to buy we can then work out how many of each....

The only way that I see working with this is to play the sitting duck and wait for the proper arrangement to come...But even having the proper arrangement in the bag you still have many more combinations to play than 210 in order to get the full wheel...and be sure of getting a decent hit...
It is a very good way to filter many lines tough...and mix with other ways of choosing the numbers it could be even more interesting!!!

Single, teen, twenty, thirty and forty

If I read this well, for Canada's Loto 6/49 1982 drawings, there was 183 combinations that have come out (from the 210 possibilities).

The 60000, 06000, 00600, 00060 and 00006 combinations have yet to come outas well as a few other ones. The number given represent the number of single, teen, twenty, thirty and forty in a combination; 60000 means six single numbers, 0 teen, 0 twenty, 0 thirty and 0 forty.

The most frequent combinations in Lotto 6/49 are:

- 11112 with 64 times;
- 11121 with 62 times;
- 11211 with 59 times;
- 12111 with 51 times;
- 21111 with 48 times.

With my information on the UK lottery, I get 146 possible combinations (out of 210) with the same ones coming out the most often but not in the same order:

- 11121 with 32 times;
- 11211 with 25 times;
- 12111 with 20 times;
- 21111 with 17 times;
- 11112 with 16 times.

All this is fairly normal as a 2-1-1-1-1 distribution (not necessary in the order single, ten, twenty, thirty and forty) should happen 14.2% of the times. In real life, it happened 14.3% of the times in Lotto 6/49 and 14.9% of the times in the UK lottery.
