Virus triggers on a certain date while no one is using it?

well, once a computer is connected/turned on, it is then being used weather it is sitting idle or not, it is still being used cuz it's on..... Like an existential riddle that one is.

Anyhoo, this story has a happy ending cuz the geniuses on the corel newsgroup helped me recover my data, so it was not lost, just went missing into computer no mans land for a bit. no pun intended. but thanks for all y'alls support. I learned my lesson! :agree2:

the lesson being (*takes a deep breath*)

you gotta connect your modulator-demodulator to your redundant array of independant or inexpensive disks and ensure that you have mirroring backups on your beowulf cluster on your red hat 9 linux operating system which is designed for these backup purposes because it uses the new technology file system which connects the wazoo to the yeebop and finally resulting in your class a-b-c-d-e-f-g backup on your RAID that you PAID for.

You've got to get to it and at it, and back up your data, and plug your computer in ... if you don't get to it, you can't get data, you won't get a chance to screw up ag'in :p:

Try this (often used by tech support)...

If a packet hits a pocket on a socket on a port,
And the bus is interrupted as a very last resort,
And the address of the memory makes your floppy disk abort,
Then the socket packet pocket has an error to report!

If your cursor finds a menu item followed by a dash,
And the double-clicking icons put your window in the trash,
And your data is corrupted 'cause the index doesn't hash,
Then your situation's hopeless, and your system's gonna crash!

If the label on your cable on the gable at your house,
Says the network is connected to the button on your mouse,
But your packets want to tunnel to another protocol,
That's repeatedly rejected by the printer down the hall.

And your screen is all distorted by the side effects of gauss,
So your icons in the window are as drippy as a sauce,
Then you may as well reboot and go out with a bang,
'Cause as sure as I'm a poet, the sucker's gonna hang!

When the copy of your floppy's getting sloppy on the disk,
And the microcode instructions cause unnecessary risk,
Then you have to flash your memory and you'll want to RAM your ROM,
Quickly turn off your computer and be sure to tell your mom!
