Hi Everybody,

Yesterday I Ran ALL the UK Lotto Combinations that have been Drawn to Date ( 964 Draws as at the 19th of March 2005 ) Excluding the Bonus Number Against ALL of the Canadian Lotto Combinations that have been Drawn to Date ( 2,208 Draws as at the 19th of March 2005 ) and came up with the Following Results.
I Just thought it would be an Interesting Exercise to do.
I Don't know if the Results are of ANY Statistical Interest, Or if Anything can be Derived from the Data Produced. I Don't think that there is Anything that Jumps Out at you as Surprising.
Here are the Results Anyway :-

Matched 0 Numbers 927,324 Times = 43.5668%
Matched 1 Number 878,734 Times = 41.2840%
Matched 2 Numbers 282,618 Times = 13.2777%
Matched 3 Numbers 37,771 Times = 1.7745%
Matched 4 Numbers 2,020 Times = 0.0949%
Matched 5 Numbers 45 Times = 0.0021%
Matched 5 + Numbers 0 Times = 0.0000%
Matched 6 Numbers 0 Times = 0.0000%
Total 2,128,512 = 100.0000%

All the Best.

On the opposite I see a lot here...In only 43.5668% (according to your results, excluding the bonus) No number at all would be the same...Could help getting an extra number in many cases from our set....
And matching 5 numbers (or 4+bonus)45 times from a pool of 6 numbers is simply out of this world...

Hi Dennis,

Would it be of Use if I was to Reverse Produce the Results. By that I Mean Run the Canadian 649 Lotto Combinations that have been Drawn to Date Excluding the Bonus Number, Against the UK 649 Lotto Combinations that have been Drawn to Date Including the Bonus Number.
This would Really Only have an Effect on the Total Number of 5 Numbers Matched and the Total Number of 5 + the Bonus Number Matched ( if ANY ), But it Might be an Interesting Comparrison.

All the Best.

Data from 2 lotteries

PAB

The data you got is exactly what can be expected and it is quite significant since you ran a very large number of tests (2,128,512).

Whenever you test 2 combinations (Canadian vs UK, 2 consecutive drawings, random combinations, etc.), basically you will get what you got. I have put down in a table your own results followed by the theorical expected values:

Match = 0: 43.567% -- 43.596%
Match = 1: 41.284% -- 41.302%
Match = 2: 13.278% -- 13.238%
Match = 3: 01.775% -- 01.765%
Match = 4: 00.095% -- 00.097%
Match = 5: 00.002% -- 00.002%
Match = 6: 00.000% -- 00.000%

Not much of a difference

GillesD,

The Table you Produced for Actual and Theoretical Percentages is Very Interesting, it just Shows how Close to Expected they Really are.

Anyway,

I went Ahead and Run ALL the Canadian Lotto Combinations that have been Drawn to Date ( 2,208 Draws as at the 19th of March 2005 ) Excluding the Bonus Number Against ALL of the UK Lotto Combinations that have been Drawn to Date ( 964 Draws as at the 19th of March 2005 ) Including the Bonus Number and came up with the Following Results :-

Match 0 Numbers 927,324 Times = 43.5668%
Match 1 Number 878,734 Times = 41.2840%
Match 2 Numbers 282,618 Times = 13.2777%
Match 3 Numbers 37,771 Times = 1.7745%
Match 4 Numbers 2,020 Times = 0.0949%
Match 5 Numbers 44 Times = 0.0021%
Match 5 + Numbers 1 Times = 0.0000%
Match 6 Numbers 0 Times = 0.0000%
Total 961,108 = 100.0000%

The ONLY Difference as I Mentioned Previously is the Match 5 & the Match 5 + the Bonus Number.

Match 5 = 45 ( UK Against Canadian ) & 44 ( Canadian Against UK )
Match 5 + Bonus = 0 ( UK Against Canadian ) & 1 ( Canadian Against UK )

All the Best.

I'll tell you what it does....I'll pick a set of 6 numbers from now on...(From best bets) And I'm going to add the 6 numbers drawn in other lottos...Draw after draw...We'll see where that goes after a few 100s.... :agree:
