Can 6/49 going to $2? How affect you?

The dodo lived on the island of Mauritius in the Indian ocean and was first seen by Portuguese explorers in 1598. Because of the dodo's ugly appearance and vulnerability. The Portuguese named it doudo, which means ''simpleton''. The size of the dodo was about that of a turkey. It lived alone on the uninhabited island and had no natural predators. Because of this, over time it lost its ability to fly.
As time passed, the island became a regular stop for ships. Sailors
who lived for months on meagre diets wanted fresh meat when they arrived at the island so they started hunting the dodo even though the meat was a bit tough and bitter. The dodo was not frightened- you can almost say it was tame- so it was easy for the sailors to walk up to the bird and kill it by crushing its skull.
In 1644 the island became a dutch colony, and by 1660 Mauririus was heavily populated. The extermination of the dodo was just a question of time. The adult dodos were killed by humans while the younger ones were killed by dogs, cats, rats, monkeys and pigs, all of which have been introduced to the island by the colonists and adapted very quickly to their environment. It took less than a century for the dodo to disapear. It happened in such a short time that many people doubted its existence. This was confirmed, however, when a resident from Mauritius showed scientists some complete dodo skeletons.

Beaker's "article" is not true. Maybe it was an attempt at humour, but he misled gullible readers by not disclosing that he was just kidding. >>>>
Yes, we are so gullible that in fact we don't know what 'CAVEAT EMPTOR' means ... but do we know not to give a sucker an even break?

... maybe we should ban ALL lotteries, casinos, horse races ... prohibit any and ALL forms of gambling in this country to prevent anyone from ruining their lives .... and that includes betting on Tiddlywinks !!!

One wonders if powerball has a poweroff button ...

There is not too much harm in buying one ticket for each draw. It currently costs $208/year to buy one ticket for every 6/49 and Super 7 draw, which is within the entertainment budget of many players. The problem is that with 6/49 doubling in price, it will now cost $312/year just to have one shot per draw. For people that play multiple picks, wheels or lotteries, it will be much harder to stick to a reasonable budget for lotteries, especially when the jackpots climb to at least $17 million.

Anyway, the lottery corporations need to keep ruining 4% of addicts' lives in order to keep paying the six-figure salaries of their employees!

Yes and some of us play the Tag , Encore or whatever it is called. That also cost and extra 1.00.. I will now have to play that twice, Once for 649 and once for Atlantic 49 and well super seven is the same.. cost 3.00 per play or in my case I play 2 sets of 3 plus tag which is 5.00...........

Sheba, will you keep playing 2-wheel sets of 6/49 plus one Quick Pick? If I understand your post correctly, your weekly cost will be the following:
1) 6/49: $2 * 3 tickets * 2 draws = $12
2) Atlantic 49: $0.50 * 2 draws = $1
3) Tag: $1 * 3 draws = $3
4) Super 7: $2 * 2 tickets = $4

So is your new lottery budget $20 * 52 weeks = $1,040/year? I think many of the players here will have an even bigger expenditure if they want to maintain their 6/49 wheels.

$29 * 52 weeks = at least $1,508/year. The $2 Atlantic PAYDAY seems to be worst deal, with a maximum jackpot of only $500,000. :(

Some people choose to drink, some choose to smoke, some choose to do both. Some have other vices. Some choose to spend money on other types of entertainment, such as going out to dinner, going to the movies, etc., etc., etc., ... And your point is?

Yes I pay my Idiot Taxes every week!

That PayDay game is not good, I don't think it will be around long. I did like the Wild 5 Game which the was replaced with PayDay.

well I seem to remember last year about this time of the year!!!!

For months last year we who read this website. Were told price was going up.There was discussions after discussions. On the price going up.I read NOT going to happen.
It was dropped. Now it is going up.I seem to rememeber quite the conversations on if people were going to continue to play.
I think it is like temp insanity. Everyone will do a time out and back they will come?
Just my thoughts.

bigsis2uca, I think you're right. The masses will probably come back, this time driven by greed instead of game. I can honestly say I'm done with 649 for the most part. Maybe the occasional QP now and then when the jackpot goes higher than high. My main-play lottery will be the Ontario49, where I can buy twice as much greed for my game buck. :)
