Not to gainsay anything anyone has said previously and not to underestimate the value of good protective software, but one of the popups I get starts out:

"We have detected that your system may have been infected....."

How did they find out? Spyware?

MAY?! If you're not sure, why? Scare tactics? Yep - turns out they're selling a cheap version of protective software. What BS!

Judge their actions by their motives.....

It took me one hour to get that XP SP2 and it works fine and actually it's better than b4...
However I am still using Mozilla FireFox and ThunderBird.
Let's hope they get their act together and plug all their security holes!!

I use firefox for browesing

I use firefox for browesing because it does not come with all the overhead stuff that IE uses. Sometimes when I need to see a site that uses Java or ActiveX stuff, I'll switch over to IE to see the contents, then use firefox to surf.

A lot faster loading and a lot less hassle not being infected by ActiveX and Java scripts hidden in the websites code.

troller,
firefox will handle java, shockwave, flash, pdf and countless others without any problems, you just need the right plugin!

Write about:plugins in the address bar and hit enter to see which plugins you have running! From there you can find a link to a site with instructions on how to install other plugins!

Have fun!
