Why so many lurkers

I have been on the forum for a short while but when ever I log on and look at the stats there are 60 plus guests (at this very point in time) I visit at all times through the night and there are always lots of people reading the Forum as guests.
I do think that perhaps joining is difficult because there is no clear direction on any of the major pages.

Registration is not as easy any more because the registration area has been disabled. I think this was due to abuse and childish behaviour in the past.
In order to register I believe that you must use the "Contact Us link at the bottom of the page, or Cut & Paste this link into your Browser...

http://www.lottoforums.com/contact-lotto-forums/

...and ask LT to make you a member.
You should include what username you want to use as well as your name and email address.

I hope this helps!

I suspect that some of the "lurkers" include numerous search-engine web-bots/ad-bots, which are busy spidering through and indexing the internet at any given time.

Well pointed out Blitzed, we tend to forget how these sort of things are always scanning invisibly in the background :agree: .

Hi Icewynd,

:look::look::look: The issue is not whether you are paranoid, the issue is whether you are paranoid enough. :look::look::look:

Actually, fun and games aside, Jol makes a valid point. Its not the "guests" that bother me as they may be just following up on a web search and may not be regular visitors. However, I also often see registered members online perusing the posts and they never bother to make a comment.

Hey members, next time you're online, say "Hi" :thumb:

"I also often see registered members online perusing the posts and they never bother to make a comment"
You are correct of course, some forms have a buton to thank the poster for their usfull post perhaps these could be grouped together so they don`t clog the thread ?

Yup, some people just use the forum as a knowledge base, but do not ever participate.

On my website, I often notice visits coming in via Google translator, etc.

So here it might just be that they do not want to hassle with trying to translation to post...some folks do manage to work it out though...math is a universal language afterall, and gambling not far behind:hair:
