Don't know if anyone watched Marketplace last night, but, here's an interesting clip that aired from the show. It's about 25 min. in length, but worth the watch. Once opened, click on "Watch the Story" Supermarket Secrets video. (to the right, headed in red)

MAGGIE,

We have all witnessed rotten fruits and vegetables sitting on display with fruit flies all over them and the people that work there seem to think that's normal for some reason.
I will never order a Bagel again from Tim Horton's even if they go to 10 cents each. The young people that work there are overworked so when someone orders a toasted Bagel alot of times they don't even put on plastic gloves to butter them. I've witnessed that alot of times. There's alot of things in life that were better off not ot see that's for sure. Restaurant Kitchens could be a novel with thousands of pages to be written on there conditions.

I could probably write a book on restaurant kitchens. While living up north going to school, I worked in a Chinese restaurant and the kitchen was in an absolute deplorable state. The word "sanitary" simply did not exist at that time. I would never eat there unless it was something like toast or soup that I was able to prepare myself up front at the counter. The dirty dishes were all thrown into a huge sink out back and washed by hand, and I use the term "washed" lightly.

I worked there for about 2 years and not once in that whole time did I see an inspector come in and do an evaluation on the place. I'm sure if one was done, that would have been it.

The washroom was a whole different story...one washroom shared by both sexes, that says it all.

Ever gone to a Carnival and watched the person make your Hot Dog with his or her bare hands. Did you ever wonder where the SINK was in those PORTA JOHNS they have all over the grounds? Maybe they bring there own wash basin and leave it in the back of there truck. There are 8 MILLION STORIES to be told and these are just a few of them. Have a nice day.

:wavey: 12 more days to shop.
