Especially for Arthur.

This is the thread to discuss your selection methods for the UK challenge.

Well I can't easily give you an example as its quite compicated, I can only outline the elements that go into it.
My first pool of numbers is generated using a 'reverse skip method' which I know won't mean much to you, but in essence I create a list of past draw numbers, (approximately 8) draws which are most likely to contain at least one ball which will repeat to the next draw. This gives me a pool of ball numbers from those results (some appearing more than once) to start off my selection list.
I then have a second system creating a second pool of numbers based on what I call "follow on analysis" which is described in my post in the thread "Markov chains". Both pools are combined and the number of times each ball appears is counted to give me an order of priority. I create my shortlist from this, sometimes just managing to create 20 balls sometimes there is 'a tie' where the ball counts are equal and I cannot decide which to choose. So I then have a third system as a 'tie breaker' based on straightforward skip analysis (how long has a ball been absent) which sorts the tied balls in order, and I take the first balls with equal count from this list until I have my 20. All the analysis is done in Excel using both formulas and macros, so would be exremely difficult to do manually.
Well you did ask... :rolling:

Nice frank I did almost the same a.so ok but this is a lottery 6\49 not the 49s because you not play that I piddle with the numbers the same way kind of but if you think the system you have got is good in others games perhaps you should trying your luck there even for fun you could pike the numbers what I give you do the piddle and see how is go maybe who knows you mind be very lucky but definitely please use the numbers what I give you or if you like you can go to the side 49s look at the draws the past approximately 8 or 12 use your system and tray but you don't have to . if you don't want to but it is for fun this what you piddle the system mind work thank you SER FRANK I appreciate what you did so far for me good man frank

When the Idea of a challenge was first proposed by Icewynd, the number of balls was 14. There was then some discussion about the proposal by people who intended to take part, and opinions differed on how many balls we were allowed to choose.

There are advantages and disadvantages for each possible option of how many balls to choose. With a high number of balls picked the chances of getting correct selections are much higher, but the need to make the right choices in a wheel using those selections is also more important, as the cost of covering all the numbers in real play can be enormous.
In the end, Icewynd decided on 20 balls as the number we were allowed to choose. Even with 20 balls it is surprisingly difficult to consistently get more than three correct balls.
So thats why its 20 ! :)
