The last signature

It's very funny the oportunity we have to change our user signature. However,... I see that when you change to another signature, every post ( past and present) presents the new signature.
I'd like to see past posts with the signature that the user choose at the time he posted, if possible of course.

This one is really obvious where I can answer without any doubt... ...those things like signature, avatar, number of posts to name a few all come from one place to save on disk space and it also has performance implications too. You will never see what you were thinking which does make sense.

Are you saying that those users that change easily their signature will be plenty of disk garbage someday?

No, its the tottal opposite... ...there is only one place where the Signature resides on disk. All the programs know where it is and thats how/why you see it and notice it changes everywhere in real time.

The database in this forum has two modes - dynamic and static. The dynamic portion is that which, except for the signature, is contained in the left side (frame) of the message and contains your name, avatar and the rest of the information in your profile. This is updated in each of your posts when you change your profile. The static portion is the message itself.

Were the (current) dynamic information was to be converted to static information and be stored for each message, that would occupy far more storage space than is now required (consider that graphics are used in the avatar, and some use more graphics in their signature) under the current format.

Thanks John; after your explanation and George's I changed my mind; really it's better not to see some signatures anymore, those that you don't understand

I guess the administrator made the choice to have a dynamic mode of operation here... ...they save on disk space and the trade off is more CPU cycles is required. Not sure how much impact there is.
