Something Strange About Keno

I was just checking out the keno numbers on the OLG site.

And i came across a set of numbers that has had two 10 number winners.

13,22,23,31,33,35,37,41,61,64, and there were a couple more that i saw but i didn't write them down. but this is very strange, if the odds are aprox. 1 in 2,000,000 and i know there haven't been 2 million draws since the conception of this game. so how could some sets of numbers hit the jackpot more then once? I heard that their computers pick the numbers. and it's not the bouncy balls. The only thing i can think of that does that is their algorith code that picks numbers isn't exactly true randomness. so i was kinda thinking that the algorith favours numbers that have alreay been picked. because when i put in the numbers randomly i don't get any numbers over 7 but if i put in a set of numbers that have already won i'll get an 8, or 9

if somebody could check this out and confirm it, it may be easier to try to crack the algorith or find patterns in it. then predicting the next set of numbers.

or maybe i am just crazy and i am seeing things..

each keno draw is 20 of 70 numbers.

if it was an outright 10 number draw, then that'd be a different story.

I was also puzzled by the particular set of numbers you quoted. If I am not mistaken I think the draws you are referring to are a few days apart.

I almost certain their is some underlying code in Keno draws, but it changes all the time. For one thing there is no question the most recently played numbers up to 5 draws are the most favoured.
So, assuming you were able to track the code down you would only benefit temporarily.

When you compare Ontario Keno/Banco Quebec
there seems little doubt Ontario Keno numbers are "managed"
to some extent.

the odds are still 1 in 2,147,181 to pick those 10 numbers so how does this happen 2 days in a row, it is extreme. and the odds of it happening 2 days in a row are much higher then 1 in 2million

If you are talking about a specific set occuring two days in a row, then the odds are 1 in 2,147,140.74^2, or 1::4,610,385,116,665.81. But this is a random set. That set of 10 numbers has exactly the same odds, i.e. 1::2,147,140.74, of appearing in the next or any subsequent drawing.

Regardless, those are very high odds !

In any 20-number draw from any size field there will be 184,756 different 10-number combinations. But you're not likely to have the same 20 numbers to deal with in the next draw. However, probability dictates that there will be a certain amount of numbers common to two consecutive draws, with 5 or 6 numbers being most common. 10 common numbers is rare, and, off the top of my head, should be as rare as having no repeats. I can do a workup on this if you're interested, but it'll be some time - work requirements.

all i am saying is it's just that the odds of it happening is astronomical, twice in a row. and that has happend before, and with 9 and 8 numbers and it's not that rare, i think the program that they use to pick numbers is not truly random, and if its not true randomness then exploition is plausible, i think it favours somehow picked numbers.

i do understand what your saying picking 10 out 20 numbers still gives you over a hundred thousand possibilities.... anyway it was just something strange i noticed.

Something else to consider, and I don't know whether it's pertinent or germane to this discussion without doing the workup.

If one were to play a 20-Spot game on a 70-number board there would be 1,897,865,025,576,520 different 10-number combinations in any 20-number draw, with odds of 1::85.30 of hitting any specific 10-spot combination. Given the fact that we're discussing 20-number draws with 10 possibilities that may be a valid figure with which to work.

Keno holds the best odds for the 'house' but is also trackable because a computer generates the numbers. Many speculate that these numbers are derived from root starter numbers which then makes the entire winning series predictable. More likely than not there was no actual draw done that day..likely numbers
were mixed via another method. Sorry guys, but with the recent weirdness
of Ontario Keno numbers I would not put anything beyond them. I have a feeling this lottery is not doing very well financially for the Corporation at this time.

You may be onto something in stating that the keno computer 'favors' certain numbers and combinations over others. There are many combinations that score 7 number hits and higher several times a year whereas there are other combinations that have only recorded only a 7 number hit 2 or 3 times since its inception.
