Respecting success...

I have been studying numbers for 10 years now. And have been testing various stratedgies to overcome the odds and turn a profit. Some people refer to this as number crunching. If you tell most people that you can make a living from betting on anything, they will usually laugh at you and play it down. Because most people don't really believe it can be done. They see gambling as a mugs game, that will make the poor poorer and the rich less rich. Unless you get lucky and win a huge ammount in one go such as winning the lottery. And of course for the most part this is true.

I have known for the last 4 years that not only can it be done, but is almost too easy once you know certain factors. The average punter is too lazy to study and analyze anything to form a stratedgy or system (I don't like the term) that will give them a far greater edge than simply blind betting or following the usual procedures the bookmakers hope/want you to follow. I.e studying the form in the Racing post, and so forth.

The one thing that must remain loose in any stratedgy, is the money management. And this is often the part of the gamblers game/plan that destroys them, even if on paper they have a winning stratedgy. The house (casinos) and bookmakers rely on one major human failing to secure sure profits. GREED! Go in too fast and don't give the odds the respect you must. And even with a good stratedgy you can be wiped out.

With what I now know about numbers for example. It would be very tempting to put hundreds of pounds on a single number at gauranteed odds of 5/1. Knowing that 8 times out of 10 I will win a fullhouse in a maximum of 24 draws. But there can always be an Eliminator that doesn't go to plan. And that is where the respect and restraint must be maintained. I personally aim for a profit of about 3-400 pounds per week.

People who know what I do and have seen it work. Always tell me I should be betting far larger stakes. I tell them GREED is the bookmakers friend. And it is because of this restraint that when I have eliminators where the final one or 2 numbers don't drop by the 24th draw. My losses are minumum. And I will make up for them in future eliminators.

So even when you have a stratedgy that has been making good profits for several years. You must maintain that respect for the odds. And in return you will be in control of what you are doing.

RE: Respect....

Total agreement on this statement, fullhouse, I began on the Mississippi. I probably have more time and grade over you gambling but that's neither here nor there. The points that you have made are still valid and very true. Bet with your butt and you'll be lucky to have enough to buy toilet paper; play responsibly and with all of the know how tools that you can lay your hands on, that is the smart way---INFORMATION and RESPECT go hand in hand. A sense of humor doesn't hurt either when you lose more than you gain. I can laugh at me for my foolish mistakes with major loss of funds because I did it to me. Spect that you are good at learning from your mistakes or just dumb bad luck of the draw whatever the game. I live off of my proceeds---no other income, don't need one!

Hey teufellj

It is nice to correspond with and American investor. Lol! I prefer that term over gambling. Because I don't regard what I do as gambling. The term implies taking a risk without any certaintly of making a profit. But to be able to make a living from this game as you know. You have to keep the cold hard cash coming. Sceptics will always be out there. And usually their attitude is, if they can't do it, then neither can anyone else.

And that is the fallacy that most people dubious about what we do carry in their heads. I have been to Texas and lived in America for a while. I have a texan girlfriend. And if things work out I may relocate to the States in the future. Something I wanted to ask an American gambler/investor such as yourself is.

How do you go about placing bets year arround? I have heard that you can't just go to a bookmaker in the local shopping precinct like you can in the UK. And gambling isn't legal in many states. So do you bet online, or what is your solution? Regards...Fullhouse.

RE: Fullhouse...

Howdy do pardner,

used to live in Galveston, Dallas and Fort Worth, myself. What I can tell you about "investments" is pretty straight out; you either go to the casinos in the States, Mexico or Canada or you get an account setup online. That is about the only legal way to not get into trouble with local, state or federal marshals. The other way is pretty obvious and if you are not very careful, it can get you into serious trouble.
Considering marrying a Texas Belle are you? This is good but beautiful ladies abound all over the globe.
Investing in the future the way that we are talking also, can cause grief if you live in Texas. Down there (Texas) there is no other word for the high rollers but gamblers and gambling. In Fort Worth, they wouldn't know what you were talking about; you are either in or out and you had better have money up front for your stake---not an investment venture with capital gains.

Wow that was fast!

Hey man thanks for the fast reply. Yes I know it is a tricky situation in ole Texas. My girlfriends brother is a real good ole boy. And he loved to take me and his sister down to the fortworth stockyards. Get all tanked up on some cold ones, then troll on down to the antique shops and try and haggle the owners down on a set of deer horns. Lol! Yes I know this is off topic, but I have always had a thing for southern belles and I have been lucky to find a fine one. Thanks to the mighty internet. LOL!

Back on the topic. I was able to use my British betting accounts while I was in Lewisville, so maybe I will be alright. Should I end up living there. Speak soon, Regards...fullhouse.
