Note: according to OLG, the same machine is used for all the OLG lottery draws.

Are you sure they use the same machine for Lotto 6/49 and Ontario 49?

I watched the draws on the OLG website and the machines look different.

Here is a copy an email someone got from OLG when he asked them;
OLG HAS TWO CASES OF BALLS, COIN IS FLIPPED EACH NIGHT TO DETERMINE WHICH BALL CASE IS USED

This from a letter sent to Olg and their reply:

"As you know we do all the OLG draws on one machine at each site. There are still three, in the studio at CTV-Toronto on Wed, Fri & Sat, in the window on Dundas on Mon, Tue,Thu and Sun*. One Sunday a month we do the draws in the Mississauga warehouse. However, every night we show all the draws on the 29 foot LED screen at Dundas.

With one machine we first load in 10 balls numbered 0 to 9 and by drawing one digit at a time and reloading we do Pick-3, Pick-4 and Encore. (14 ball drops). Then we remove the ten balls and depending on the night load in balls as needed. So Saturday night we start with 45 balls for Lottario and EarlyBird, then add 46, 47, 48 & 49 for Ontario 49. Then we add 50 to 70 for Daily Keno. On Thursday we add 71 to 77 to draw PayDay.

Yes there has been a really hard look at costs. Because operating three sites is difficult and CTV is the most expensive we're talking about shutting it down and just going with two sites. So some day all draws will take place at Dundas except for once a month when we'd still run from Mississauga to ensure the back-up site is always ready to go.

I was thinking of running the OLG draws on the Lantana and the Lotto draws on the Tulipe but it was suggested to get a new style machine and do all draws on one.

Does Ryo Catteau have a new model that could do what we want?"

btw..I meant play 842 or 832 for ONT pick 3 last night, based on the numbers for
Sat...the actual pick 3 result was 248.

Thanks. That makes more sense.

I think OLG uses the same machine for Ontario 49, Pick3, Pick4, PayDay, Encore, Keno, and Lottario. They look the same...

For Lotto 6/49 (that you mentionned in your original post), I don't think they use the same machine. That email you posted doesn't mention it and the machine looks different when you watch the draws on the OLG website. But maybe they use the same balls? I don't know. :confused:

Interesting..I missed that part..thanks
Well 649 is National so for all we know they probably
do the draws in different jurisdictions..or perhaps
the 649 draws rotate between different provinces ?
