Odds change

Hi Folks,

I'm sure this has been discussed before... does anyone feel that the change in price of 6/49 changes the odds?

While the mathematical odds are still about 1 in 14,000,000, the odds as it pertains to the dollar have been doubled.

For example: a person who budgets $10 per draw effectively had a 1 in 1,400,000 chance at winning, with the new price structure the odds shoot way up to 1 in 2,800,000. Hardly seems fair...

It's not a feeling it's fact - odds worsen per $1 wagered

Seems we cretins will be lured to the high jackpots like flies to ..... :dang:

Fairness doesn't enter into the equation

The media has got many players confused:rolleyes:. The odds are exactly the same to win the jackpot. The only difference is the amount of $$$ it takes to buy all the possible combinations. To even bothering to mention buying all of them is just plain stupid:no:. Who would do that is insane to even think about.

If you play one line of 6 numbers to STILL face the same odds to win the big one before the price went up. They did add a 2 and bonus for $5 if you hit that. The other prizes are about the same except for the jackpot. So, look at it this way... ...a 50% pay-cut is what we have now for a 3 number winner which is more common place... ...a 4 number winner is about the same pay out too:burnt: compared to the old price. Again, its NOT the odds, its the change prizes. The jackpot is the only thing significant in the change besides the price.

I hope this helps to see the truth:agree:.

George:)

That was my prediction the first time I heard the news about price increase. In the short run, 6/49 Jackpots will skyrocket (month or two) and then you will see big decrease in 6/49 Jackpots and sales. As far as I am concerned, I am devoted Super 7 player. It's just the best game we have in Canada. Why not play it?

Well, Super 7 has worse odds to begin with. A 5 hitter there gets you only $150:rolleyes: which sucks. I'll get only ONE Quick Pick for Super 7 and thats all. Either Keno or your provincial game like Ontario 49 is where the prizes are more rewarding from a more practical point of view. $.50 gets you $50 for a 4 hitter in Ontario 49:agree:. In contrast, 6/49 gets you about $65 when you spend $2... ...compared to Ontario 49, a 4 hitter is about $17 for each $.50 spent:eek: in 6/49:burnt: now.

I wouldn't mention BC 49 'cause I don't want to get Brad feeling even more bad than now... ...he is a smart kitty cat playing Ontario 49 from BC:agree:.

2 reasons:

1: Ontario players can't pick their own tickets like they do in other parts of the country

2: the odds are astonomical to hit the jackpot 1:62,891,499
that's 62 million to 1 shot.

Good luck trying to hit that - you'll need it
