Been there, done that, many times. If it feels like a waste, it is time to take a break! Just don't get down on yourself.
If you play on a regular basis, establish a budget and stick to it.

Just like Mirage said a budget is a good thing. I try to stick to $10 per draw (well 11) but if I win something that prize gets added on to the following draw's $11.

Keeps things under control, took a while to stay at this limit, as I am always tempted to play more, but it worked out in the end.
