Hello?
What's going on here? I have no idea what's gone on in the past between people but why have or are people emailing behind the scenes with "friends", etc. which then sometimes turn sour? Where's the forum in reality? Why is it turning into some kind of tiny, "mutual admiration society"? Or is it just the February blahs? It tends to discourage participation among members. This kind of proclaims "don't even bother". No wonder there are so many lurkers.
One thing definitely seems to be the truth. You can't win 'em all, even if you are the best. So expect to loose some after winning some. Occasionally there is someone who is just "born lucky" and seem to have more than their fair share of luck. Nobody ever said life was fair.
Something I read in a book a long time ago by a gambler/lottery player - forget his name - sort of stuck with me, especially because over time, what he said seems to have been born out:
It was words to the effect - (Generally speaking or more often than not) No sooner do you come up with what you think is a winning, sure-fire trend, than it (the trend) tends to disappear on you. That may be true for simple ideas or trends anyway. Mathematically sophisticated trends this may be less true but they are so broad they are mostly impractical even though they give an edge. It's hard to build on the edge though.
I probably wont give up on this board, at least not completely, because I'm tenacious and, at least in the safety of the virtual world, tough (but not in person) - I can ignore the sling shots of words etc, mostly.
And 2, I really am pretty fixated on winning, as once you see it is possible to beat the odds, it gets into the blood.
Also, I sincerely apologize to any people I may have hurt through words on this board. I really mean that. Even though you may not care about me, I care about you.
(Happy Valentines Day in advance).
