Ldir is a good program, but using DosBox in Windows 7 really slows it down.
Gail Howard (Smart Luck) also offers full wheels with full filtering capabilities as well abbreviated wheels. Excellent choice if your are hobby or novice player and just what something fast for each game.
3) Where can I find some optimized 5/50 wheels?
What are you optimizing parameters, could they optimized by filtering? Sorry I can’t help you there.
Are you optimizing by sums, even and odds integers?? As a suggestion you could use a one of Gails Pick 6 wheels, that uses 2 Power numbers and just strip one of the Power numbers and get your pick 5. Copy into Excel and strip out the column. Quick and easy – that is what I would do.
1)The three main programs I use are Gail, Covermaster, Microsoft Excel and two custom filtering programs
If you are using Gail you can request (for a small price) from her website 2power and 3 power number wheels wound to produce a guaranteed 5w5 results using all 49 numbers.
Once you have the shell of the abbreviated wheels you then can create multiple wheels in Excel, by simply using pointers as you mentioned.
For example
You choose an abbreviated wheel with 3 power numbers. (this wheel has 358 combinations using all 49 numbers)
You have three sets of integers, ([1,11,21,31,41],[2,12,22,32,42],[3,13,23,33,43])
You create all the subsets of the integers, (1,2,3.....41,42,43) -> 85 subsets
85 sets x 358 wheels = 30430 combinations
Cautionary note: You need to get one number from each set right to produce a 5 out 5 win. But with practice you can choose your sets carefully to produce results, and make sure there is no overlap in the integer subsets. Use more numbers then the total of integers in your game if you are playing 6/49 game, make sure your wheel can handle more then 49 numbers, i.e use a wheel that can handle 55 or more numbers. When you copy these into Covermaster, Covermaster will strip out the duplicate strings and any combinations were integers have repeated. (for example combination 01, 02,03 04,05,02 – would be stripped as 02 appearred twice)
If you are more advanced you and want to increase the size of the 3P5w5 wheel from 358 combinations to say a larger size, perhaps a 1000 or more, just build it in Excel. The math is very simple to create abbreviated wheels. However this still does guarantee you will produce a 6 out 6, but you will have lots little prizes, such as 2/6+, 3/6 , 4/6 and of course a 5w5. Don’t make the wheel too large as then then you might as well have played a full wheel.
So from your shell abbreviated wheel using Excel you now can substitute all the pointers, or subsets of integers, making one huge set of combinations. There might be 200,000 or even up to 500,000 combinations - depending if you are using Windows 7 with MS Excel Office
Take this huge set of combinations and copy them directly into Covermaster, as 'a new cover. ‘Save it.
Filtering
To be honest there isn't really a good 'off the shelf program for this - hardcore lottery players make their own and don't share them. Gails is great for full wheels, but does not for abbreviated wheels to my knowledge.
My advice it to search online and find a site like 'getacoder' if you are not a programmer. Specify exactly how you would like your lottery program to work and be very very specific. Programmers from all over the world bid on your program, and send you a price. Choose one you think can deliver. Test, test, test, test and test. They don’t get paid until the works. The funds sit in escrow, so they can see it, but it is not released until you are ready and satisfied with their program. Some of them do very nice work. For the price of $50-$100 (just guessing) it is a small fortune for them and they will deliver.
Don't say what the program will be used for, as the price will be skewed. Don't be too specific as then it will not work for all situations, which you may think of in the future. I personally have two filtering programs, one for statically and one for dynamically filtering my combination strings, very simple, very robust, very fast and handle up to 20 million combinations. Be sure have a CPU that can handle the processing and performance.
You may still have a large set of combinations after the filtering. Use a “skip” to only play every 10th or 50th combination or whatever it takes to get your game down so that it is comfortable for you to play. Never spend more then you should.
