George, Maybe that's 56700+ complaints...that kicks the s**t out of their survey of 4500 players who wanted the price increase. We can only hope and continue to bombard theim with complaints.

Could be worth a try to see if these guys will cough up the actual survey ... what would we do with it though, put it in the outhouse for emergencies?

Why complain when many ppl here are still playing 649 ??

I talked to 2 diff. lotto sellers and they both told me sales are higher cause ppl here are blinded by JACKPOTS...They don't think about the odds...PLus many ppl here in BC have money to waste.

At the end it's going The LOTTO CORP way....

I finally got my reply from a real person at olgc.. either they have changed their response, or I am special :) cus my response is different..

here it is..

Thank you for your e-mail regarding the changes to LOTTO 6/49. Consumer comments and suggestions are important to the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, and I have forwarded your e-mail to our Marketing Department for their review.

While I can understand your position regarding the price increase, these changes are the first ever since this popular game launched in June 1982. In addition, this was a national decision involving the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation which represents all five of Canada's lottery corporations. The decision was based on national customer research studies that told us players are willing to pay $2 for a chance to win bigger jackpots more often, and for a chance at additional prizing. Due to the game enhancements, players can now win a $5 cash prize for matching just two numbers plus the bonus. This enhancement has improved the overall odds of winning any prize to 1 in 32; the current game has overall odds of 1 in 54.

It is important to point out that lottery proceeds are returned to the Province of Ontario for the operation of hospitals, for programs to address problem gambling, and for physical fitness, sports, recreation and cultural activities throughout Ontario. These revenues also enable the Ontario Trillium Foundation to distribute $100 million annually to charitable and non-profit organizations. During the fiscal year 2002-2003, the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation returned more than $2.4 billion in profit to the Provincial Government. The Corporation also awarded more than $1 billion in lottery prizes for the same year, which amounts to 51.4% of sales.

I hope this information is helpful. We appreciate the time you have taken to bring your concerns to our attention.

Regards,

Jennifer
