Mozilla question

If someone is using Mozilla and is unable to get onto a site and this message comes up, "Web site not configured to use Sites Web Server", what does this mean exactly? Is it a browser problem or a problem with the site?

One reason may be:
Many Web sites have a single hostname like "www.example.org" to resolve
multiple servers for the purpose of load balancing or mirroring.
If one server is unreachable, others may still be up, so browsers should
try to contact all the servers of a Web site before concluding that the
Web site is down.

Oneother is the monopoly of microsoft, that if you use their server's software
may be not configured properly for other browsers than IE.

The most probable cause is error in configuration by the webmaster.

You can contact them and indicate the problem.

You can also ask the question here:

Why not post the link you are having trouble with. I find that almost all the sites I visit (using mozilla firefox) work as expected. Some sites don't seem to render properly, but I can live with that.

Cheers....

Fenris, I'm glad you said "almost all". :)
As far as some sites not rendering properly... how about rendering - period.

http://www.kpmg.com/

Try that one in FireFox and see what it renders. Oh yes, don't forget to view "page source" to satisfy yourself that there actually is content.

;)

Maggie, I'm quite sure the problem you were having was not on your end, it was server-side.

P.S. Mozilla, in fact, has a better page rendering engine than IE. IE, however, displays even the worst written code. It sort of smoothes over your rough edges and mistakes in your code and that is why you can see pretty much 100% of the pages on the web using it. IE has made life easy for programmers, but it has also allowed some really bad (code) writers to earn a living.

Kpmg.com, doesn't render at all under firefox. Interesting....

However, when a problem like this crops up I use IE. This doesn't happen very often. Heck I use firefox to check my hotmail (a microsoft owned site).

All in all I think firefox is well worth the occasional time the a page won't display correctly. At least I can say that these forums render correctly! :agree2:
