lotto frequency variance

Consider a general lotto game n/N and draw it D times.

The mean frequency per number will be Dn/N but what variance should one expect? Would it be (NxN-1)/12xn?

variance frequency

One will never understand any lotto game as long as one is concerned with algebraic equations. Study the game and the nrs and leave the algebra alone. It will only be distracting. Laws of probability are nice but is nothing more than an exercise in futility.
Any lotto game is nothing more than sequential numbers. That's why each nr, or any combo of nrs, appears an equal amount of times as any other of the same combo.
However, there are a few popular nrs. I'll let you discover which ones they are. It's not what you think. And, they are relatively unimportant.
As with an artist I can visualize the complete picture of 13,983,816. The artist knows instinctively what the finished painting will look like, but can't explain it very well, or has difficulty in how to go about getting there.
Use simple variables to understand any lotto game. -- Lowest to highest is the key.
Databases that track history is worthless. And, a serious player should never, ever use computer picks. W
