Interesting. When you posted your numbers the other day I rembember being surprised that Quebec still had the PayDay lottery. Ontario axed theirs in 2010.
In Ontario the JP prize options were $1,000 a week for life or a lump sum of $675,000. Of 61 JP winners, only 10 took the annuity. Which means that the rest of them either didn't think that they would live another 13 years, the point at which the annuity return exceeded the lump sum, or they just wanted to get their hands on the cash.
Life is uncertain. Eat dessert first and grab the cash!
