Hi,

Saw this on news on CTV: Kirkland Lake man beats odds; wins 6/49 twice in 6 months. Anybody else see this? Did the guy have a system or just luck?
:wow:
(Would anybody admit it if they did? ;) )

luck or system

...if this game is honest its just luck..if rigged he cheated but no system ever has been proven...all the wheels in the world can't help you in a game of chance its just too hard to calculate all the probabilities.

him and friend got 2nd prize the first time (anound 300k) and this time he hit the jackpot of 15 million..

not two jackpots.

...either way statistical oddity that I very much would like the lottery officials to investigate completely!

Hi smallwinner,

Thanks for clarifying this.

Then there was the story told to me by the ticket seller yesterday who said that he heard about the 82 year old lady who dreamed (yes, dreamed) the winning numbers, and she thought just to be sure she played that set of numbers twice.... This was 5 years ago, apparently.
Yes, she won the jackpot, and it was a fairly big one. There were only 2 winners, she and herself again.

Why.......?

One would assume he won fairly and squarely... Unless he had insider information~

Listen I know of at least a few other cases where a winner of a jackpot has won a big amount more than twice. I know it doesn't seem fair (is life fair??) but luck does happen. :agree:

Hello romeo,

No sorry have to disagree with you there. You can improve your odds, maybe not win the jackpot but I have won consistently, for a long time now, much more than chance odds alone would allow. There's no question that you can do better than chance odds alone, if you work at it. Mind you it's not a get rich method, it's just a game.

statistical odds

...luck..like all those Ontario lottery retailers right.........? Sorry but I'm sure this kind of win is closely monitored anymore after the scandal and who knows what the fraud squad and RCMP are looking at....all I know is this kind of win is statistically impossible.

Statistically impossible?
No! Very unlikely but not statisically impossible.

As I recall, she had bought one ticket and then bought a second ticket with the identical numbers after having the dream..There were three winning tickets, her two tickets and a third ticket.Instead of splitting the winnings two ways(50/50),she got 2/3 of the winnings and 1/3 for the other winning ticket
Her dream netted her the additional 16%.

OK, this is a known story then. (Maybe even was mentioned previously on this forum? Sorry, if I'm repeating info, it's been a while... ) So it was a 3 way split. Too bad she didn't cover her take more completely.
But I suppose if the ticket seller had looked at her numbers he might have thought her suffering from a brain disorder. ("Ma'am, you've played the same set of numbers three times..." :lol3: )

Don't understand what you mean by additional 16% tho- Don't you mean additional 33.3?...% ?

well instead of claiming 50% of the prize, she ended up with 2/3 of the prize.. aka 16.6666 % more than 50%

Good for her!!! Hope one of us can pull that off tonight!

Good luck all:hair:

1 ticket of two winners = 50%
2 tickets of 3 winners = 66.67%
so the improvement is 16.67%

yes you could say that a 16.67% of 100% = 33.3% of 50% but in real world the increase is only 16.67% of the JP.
