Info on Provincial Buying Statistics

Hey all,

First Post..

I was wondering if anyone had a link to a web site that was able to give the information regarding how many ticket purchases there are for each draw including a provincial breakdown.

I know the bclc.com site has the yearly revenues and that could be equated to how much British Columbians purchased lottery tickets (or at least how much is spent) per year.

I would think that this information would be public knowledge. It would give a breakdown as to how many tickets were purchased in each province. Ie, if more tickets are purchased in Ontario, the the CHANCE is that the winner could be from Ontario.

Thanks in advance..

Sympatico.ca used to do it

They have the break-down for the National 6/49 last time I checked. Don't know why they stopped providing the same info for BC and others but you could try to contact them to get the source. I don't know any others.

Cheers

oops ... I realize now we maybe talking apples and oranges. What I wrote above applies to provincial lotteries vs CN49.

thanks Brad,

I have already been aware of sites that show where the winner tickets have been purchased.

What I am looking for is a site that shows how many tickets have been purchased in each province per draw (total tickets including non-winners)

Is it just me or am I the only one that is curious as to the demographics of ticket purchases.

Thanks again

The five Canadian lottery corporations are secretive and paranoid about giving too much information to their own players. Only Loto-Quebec discloses the total sales for each Lotto 6/49, Lotto Super 7 and Quebec 49 draw. In Ontario, the OLGC does not disclose the sales for any draw.

One site gives the general breakdown of sales for each of the regions, so you can use this information to approximate the breakdown for each draw.

just guessing here ...

I would think that the provincial buying averages will reflect their respective population numbers. So if you look at Ontario expect ~ 1/3 of all national ticket sales to come from there.

One small exception may be Saskatchewan where the walk to the local terminal is a wee bit longer because:

a. it's not just around the corner
b. there are not as many per capita terminals
c. cows don't play lotto

For recent population stats (people, not cows) click HERE.

Cheers
