Have you upgraded to Windows 10 yet?

I'm wondering if it went smoothly, were there any issues? I'm particularly interested in how Windows 10 affects versions of Microsoft Office, whether they still run OK or whether they needed to be reinstalled etc.
I'm waiting until the dust settles and I know what I'm letting myself in for !

Depends how old your version of Office is... it's really a ploy to force you to upgrade to whatever version they make the most profits from. About the only way you can continue to use the older versions is to run them in a virtual machine under a previous operating system. Otherwise they'll want to get you on a subscription model (pay them every year).

I've used the beta versions for the last 6 months, but didn't even try to install any of my Office versions. It's almost usable if you turn off 95% of the garbage you don't need running in the background.

anyway, another option would be to try running MS Office using WINE on a Linux based OS...the Windows based forex trading software I run, works fine on work computer with this OS:

Well I've got MSO 2010, I would be most annoyed if that version did not run in Windows 10. Hardly a free upgrade if it trashes that!

Why Bill Gates has ever decided to do away with XP not even the Devil himself will know. Now he forces all to get Windows 10 to make more money... I got Xp pro 32bit and Win 7pro 32bit. I do not need anything more. I do not even use Microsoft auto updates, because that's where some of the viruses are coming from.

Well a few things you need to know:-

Windows 10 does not give you the option of choosing to manually update. You get forced updates. Manty people have pointed out tthat some updates cause problems especially Nvidia graphics card driver updates. Microsoft have uccumbed to pressure and provided an update removal and blocking tool to prevent reinstallation.

Also in Windows 10 there is something called wifi sense you need to be aware of and what it does. It shares an encrypted version of your router password and shares it with your contacts on Skype, Facebook and Outlook. This enables them when visiting you to use your network without asking for your router password. It is turned on by default. The problem is, your password is also shared with their contacts too. This is so typical of how everything is moving on the internet - rapid changes that are not designed to benefit the end user but rather to give control over to huge corporations like Microsoft.

Whether you agree with subscription based models or not and are willing to deal with the never ending security adjustments, Frank's point about waiting until the dust settles is most wise at this point in time.

I totally agree guys! It's hard enough to win a lottery game but
to compound that situation with possible security issues; spam; total disregard of privacy; etc., and the big question is...Are we going to be allowed to use what we have vs. 10 and on in the future?? Perhaps we will be told "what we will use, or else?!! In spite of Government say sos', our freedom on the internet appears to be in the clutches of the top 1%-again!
