There is a 10% chance that a number will be picked in each position of a pick 3 game. There is a 30% chance that a number will be picked in any of 3 positions.
Stated as a Frequency the expected rate for a digit in a 1 position is 10. The expected rate for 3 positions is 30.
Using data 14463 California Pick 3 Games, Frequencies for a number in 1 position vary from 9.52 to 10.47. Currently the Low Frequency is the Digit 0 in Position 1 (9.52), the High Frequency is Digit 2 in Position 1 (10.47).
The difference between High and Low Needs a Name. I am proposing that it be called the Balance Factor Digits or BFD. I chuckle a bit when see BFD, a holdover from adolescence. The question then, Is BFD a BFD? Sorry, I’ll grow up now.
I have seen many ideas that suggest and hope that the Random method of number selection moves toward this balance. That Being a 0 BFD. When the BFD is 0, Every number will have a frequency of 10. For the First 14463 Draws in California Pick 3. The current BFD is 1.02 and Rising. The Smallest BFD occurred in Game 14280 at 0.97188. The next Lowest BFD happened in Game 14281 at 0.97194. Think about that for a minute. It took 14,280 Games for the BFD to Bottom Out. In the Beginning, it was total chaos. The data did not come together for around 40 games (when each digit had hit in each position). The First game BFD was 33. It took 188 Games to get to single digits. It took 4363 Games to get below 2.0 (the first time). It has taken 13,528 Games to get to 1.10.
Position 1 Hit its lowest BFD (0.97188) in Game 14447. Just 16 Games ago. Starting in Game 39 at 33.42, it hit Single digits in Game 129, Fell Below 2.0 in Game for the first time in Game 2415 and dropped Below 1.00 in Game 14259.
Position 2 Hit its lowest BFD (0.6972) in Game 12999.
Position 3 hit its lowest BFD (0.81675) in Game 14248.
In Game 14463 (the last Game in the Data) the Overall BFD is 1.02467. Position 1 BFD is 0.95014. Position 2 BFD is 0.86802. Position 3 BFD is 0.86511.
The Lowest Average of P1-P3 BFD to date is 0.86621. I occurred in Game 14281 (182 Games Back). The Data since then shows long waves of up and down.
The data does suggest that Balance is coming. It has taken quite a few games to get here. I am guessing that it will take an exponential number of games to make another 0.5 drop in the average BFD.
Answer: BFD may or may not be a BFD. The Trend and the Long Waves may be keys to Selecting the a BFD. Translating that to number selection is going to be as hard (and a bit more overwhelming with all of the digits and the decimal points) as just picking the numbers.
And a final thought. I wonder if this Balance just makes it harder. In the early stages of the Game, the Trends were steep and Choppy. Now that they have calmed, will we drift forever. Will the wind get slower? Maybe if that happens, Rowing will Make a difference. It hasn't mattered much to date, as if I even know how to Row.
Bottle overboard. I'm running low on bottles.
